View Full Version : Problem unlocking 3310 with Noktools...unique, I think

Everyone:

I've got an AT&T locked 3310. I purchased an MBus cable from www.cell-phone-accessories.com to unlock it and am using my laptop, a Dell Inspiron 8100 running Windows XP Professional. I've identified that the cable is on COM3 and am using Noktools by Rollis v1.9.

When I do an auto-setup, it doesn't find anything on COM1 or COM2, but when it gets to COM3, I get the error:

"Can not set COM3 port lines."

I get the error five consecutive times before it moves on to COM4 and finds nothing.

Has anybody else encountered this specific problem and how have you overcome it, if it all?

Folks have been suggesting the plug-it-in-and-press-the-button-and-it's-done hardware solution that doesn't involve a PC, but I wanted to try the more economical cable solution. The way it has been painted, this shouldn't be the rocket science that I'm apparently making it out to be.

Help,
Scott

Sounds more like the laptop is giving hassle! Mind you, XP is a pain in the ass! Try Knok95, and I think there is now a Knok XP, but manually set the com port to 3 in knok and try the following:

Use Knok95
Quickset FAID, Reset User interface settings, Reset Full Factory Settings, Reset SP Locks, Set new IMEI, Use original IMEI, Quickset faid! In that order!;)

Get yourself Logomanager install and open let it detect your fone then close and then try Noktools.

Hello :)
I am no expert, but i think "the cable is on com3" was a guess. as most computers (in fact, ALL of them i have seen so far) have only two "physical" COM ports on their back. COM 3 and COM 4 (and others, if present) are "Virtual COM ports" used by internal modems.
Win XP is excellent, not a "pain in the ass" as (at least mine) runs every application i came across so far.... also Knok 95!
Check that COM port thing by looking at the back of your laptop, and see what port the cable is connected to. If there are only two such ports, i can't be "COM 3". Try your application with setting for COM 1 and COM 2. It will work.
Best regards....
