They are in mp3 and when i transfer them they get put in this shitty wave format on recorder. is there a way to play mp3s? and is it possible to make playlists?

I guess you're using the nokia 3650 suite to transfer your mp3 files to the phone, by default, the program automatically converts files to formats that are supported by the phone. To disable this feature (automatic conversion), in the 3650 suite, open control panel, you will see a file converters icon, open it, under enable converters choose none, this will disable the automatic conversion of files.
As far as I know, real player one and the sound recorder program that comes with the phone does not support mp3 files. To play mp3 files on your phone, you'll need a third party application like MP3GO, it's a very good program, I suggest you install it on your phone so you can play MP3 files, you can even create a playlist. I can't remember the exact link where you can download it, just use the search function of the forum to see where you can download it.
Although you can play mp3 files on your phone, do not expect much in terms of sound quality (don't compare the sound with stand alone mp3 players) due to fact that the phone does not support stereo sound (it only plays in mono).
Hope this helps.

just convert your mp3's into .RM format. play in realone.

That's also a good idea, unless you really want it in mp3 format. I believe that wav format (pcm 44,100 hz, 16 bit, mono or stereo)is far better than mp3 format, although due to the large size of wav files, it makes it impractical to use.
