Today I bought a 7650 of a mate, it was locked to orange (UK), but someone kindly gave me the unlocking code for it. Now it takes any sim card (hurrah). This is where the problem is. The phone is genuine (ie not stolen) and so is definitly not barred by any network etc. If i put in my vodaphone sim card, everything is fine and dandy. But when I use it with my o2 sim card, it gets a signal for about 10 seconds, then gets nothing. No signal whatsoever. I've tried it with two 02/genie Pay and go sim cards, and my o2/genie contract sim which is from my other 7650 all with the same results. Anyone have a clue as to what is wrong with it? All the o2 sim cards are fine in my other 7650 and other phones i've tested them with. I've even tried selecting o2 manually, that just comes up with No access! Please, someone help, as I need to know if I'm gonna have to return the phone and get my money back...

to be honest if it was barred it wud normally be barred on all networks,
but sometimes single networks barr the IMEI, if it works on other networks and not O2, its probably barred on O2

It's odder than I thought actually, I thought the Vodaphone sim card was working alright, but it won't make or recieve calls (even though it gets a full signal), the texts work okay though. It can't really be barred as I know the history of the phone. It's never been reported lost / stolen etc and the contract it was on only ran out last week. It's almost as if theres still a lock on it somewhere. I only entered the first unlock code of the 7 that were provided. Was I meant to enter all 7 (the 7th one came up with code error as I tried that one first, and I've read somewhere that you only get 5 attempts before you lock your fone entirely)?

sounds like you have unlocked the wrong lock mate.
there are normally 4 locks if I remember rightly.
you normally only need to unlock the 4th lock to free all sim locks

well it's now got stranger, I ended up thinking "sod it" and entered all the other unlock codes. they all either said "no sim card restriction" or (the only one that said this) the 7th one, "code error". nothing has changed though. still got a shagged fone. :( Can't understand it, when you say I've unlocked the wrong lock, how can I have, everyone else it seems to work for, why me? (as per F**king usual)
