I'm not sure if you can send them this way. I can't find a way to do it. And god knows I've read the handbook time and time again.

u cant use the phone to send ringtones via MMS, even if u have an MMS with a ringtone attached in ur inbox, u cant forward it to another phone coz nokia decided not to allow u to.

what u can do is, if ur MMS provider allows incoming e-mails to ur phone, you can attach the ringtone to an e-mail and send it to ur MMS e-mail address.

thats what ive been doing to send tones to myself, well thats until nowMMS died recently (my provider dont have MMS yet, lame huh?)

Hello :)
It won't be possible, because Nokia is following some rules regarding copyrights.
Ringtones can usually be downloaded by WAP, and you have to pay for them. From that money a part will go to the artist who created that ringtone, in the same way as you buy a CD, the artist/band will get some of the $$, which is the reason why they release albums/songs.
If you could send such ringtone to other phones, the artist (or the ringtone provider) will NOT get money, as the person you send it to will get it for free.
This is not only for poly ringtones and MMS, but even the "regular" tones which you can "order" by dialing a number or sending a SMS to a specific number, they cost you money, and you can't forward them. On older Nokia's you can, i had as an example two 8250's, one v3.14 which COULD forward received ringtones, and another v3.16 which COULD NO MORE do that.
I even tried to rename a ringtone from .mid to .jpg but i could not include that file in a MMS as the phone still "knows" that it is a ringtone.........
I've heared that other phones (Ericsson, evtl. Siemens) CAN forward received .mid ringtones, but i did not have a chance to see it myself, just hearsay.
Kind regards.....

Hey thanx for the info. but my bro has a Sony Ericsson T610 and i've actually tried sending a ringtone to a Nokia 6610 and whoopy it goes and the Nokia 6610 recieves it with no problem. The only problem u'll face is the polyphonic channels.

I'm still trying to figure out a way to send ringtones when I am able to do it i'll share it with y'all.

*note, i haven't tested sending them yet. but it's possible to code them, and put them on my phone via oxygen phone manager.

"How to send midlets, ringtones via MMS

Hey everyone,

A while ago I asked if anyone knew how to send midlets, ringtones, etc to a friends phone.

Well, I kind of came across the answer. I was thinking initially this could be done with a program from my pc and simply attatch or send the file direction (with my phone connected to my pc) through my phone.

Now, I haven't actually found a program as such, but I came across a document from Nokia called "Getting Started with MMS Tools v1.0". It explains how to code an MMS message, with multiple "slides" that can contain text, images and sound in each slide. I thought you just used your phone for this, but obviously this is generally not for consumers and gives much more functionality.

Then it went on to explain how you can forget all the presentation stuff and just send a ringtone, or multiple formats of the tone so the recipient can choose which is best for their handset. Then I thought, so this should work with midlets to, I did a bit of research on that and it seems I was right about that.

I haven't had the chance to test any of this out yet, but I thought I'd put this here to help anyone else that might be interested.

This might be obvious to some, but no one could answer me before, so I'm assuming most people don't know about this.

All you need to do this is Nokia Developers Suite for MMS - the file's call "NDSforMMSv1[1].0.zip" and is available at the Nokia Developer Forum.

OG"
