Hi
I recently lost my nokia 3650 camera phone. I am reporting the phone as lost/stolen to my service provider and insurance company. But I had unlocked the phone before it was lost. So there are no restrictions on it.

So if someone finds my phone :
Q1. Does this mean that he can use it with any service he wants ?
Q2. Can he be caught if removes the SIM card and tries to use my phone with another service provider ?
Q3. Can the insurance or service provider find out from the IMEI number that this phone has been reported lost/stolen ?

Please help....

Thanks in advance for your suggestions/comments.

Where do u live?

Here, in germany, the most operators or providers donīt care about a stolen or lost phone.
Only one provider blocks the imei if loggin in his net. By using a sim card of another provider everyone can use ur phone.

I am in USA.
So does that mean that the chances of getting my phone back as less as anyone can change the SIM card and use it with any other provider ?

Moreover, does that mean the service providers do not have a way to share the lost/stolen IMEI.

A1: No he cannot, because the provider has blocked the IMEI

A2: Not sure, the phone will just not work...

A3: Yes, there excists an blacklist of IMEI's

Hi Boe
Thanks for your reply.

As my phone is unlocked I am thinking that person can get another SIM card and use the phone with another provider.
Do you know if the blacklist of IMEI shared between the providers in a country?

I am presently located in USA. Is this blacklist nationwide or worldwide ?

thanks again...

I think it's more national...

Maybe you should call your operators help service.
