G'day Everyone,
I need your help
I have been in contact with Tiffany from ETI & she has been very helpfull .
They are considering having compatability with Windows Media Player .
If you all contact them it might help get this to happen .
Then no more converting would be needed !
Lets make this a reality as it is a gr8 app.

The only way to play videos from eti camcorder with the standard windows media player without any converting is that :
ETI Camcorder Pro has to take the videos
* directly in a codec like DivX
* directly in .avi format or similar
The only reason we are using converters is, because ETI use itīs own codec and itīs own file format.
But now the important question:
Why should we all conect EyeMail ? (ETI is only part the product name I think)
Could you describe this, please ?
Regards
Leon

It's not impossible to play EYE files directly in Media Player. First of all, the NUB codec is an MPEG-4 codec which means it produces standard compliant MPEG-4 bitstream just like DivX. The only reason you need NUB to play back the converted AVI is because of the NUB1 fourcc code attached to the AVI. If you change it to DIVX it will work with DivX. I also tried it with Xvid as well as RealMagic and both worked.
if you look into the c:\eyecon\ directory you should see a file hcnubsrc.ax. This is a DirectShow filter. The filter, I assume, reads in eye file and turn it into DirectShow video stream. That's pretty much all you need in order to build a DirectShow graph (don't ask me what they are... too complicated to explain). Once you can build a compelte DS graph, with the source filter in the beginning and a renderer filter sticked in at the end, you can now play back the video! That's how Media Player works internally. The only thing that needs to be, I believe, is to associate the file type (.eye) with the source filter... once that's done you can just double-click on the eye file and watch it in Micro$oft Media Player!
...ok I admit... easier said than done :p

I can play .ear files with WMP (old WMP). Maybe it because nub code.
=> run -> mplayer2 ;)

Thatīs absolutly correct ! :)
If you have the NuB V1.0.0.1 Codec installed your system can handle .avi files with NuB codec.

So our answer is, that there already IS compatibility, isnīt ? :)
But what I said was, if ETI Camcorder Pro donīt create .eye and .ear files, but dicrectly .avi files with NuB codec, in this case there would REALLY no more converting be needed.

Why don't you email the author of the program directly? But, mind ya, writing a "video recorder" is no trivial task... Real time mpeg-4 video encoding on a Nokia 7650? Beats me how they did it!

Thank you to answer me.
I know that writing a "video recorder" is no trivial task, but i have to do it.
Then i don't think that the author will be so kind to send me the source code...but i will try to ask him.
Thank you again.

I get the following error when using EYECON:
C:\EYECON> eyecon c:\eyecon\test.eye c:\eyecon\test.avi
EYE File to AVI Converter Version 1.0
Copyright(c) 2002-2003 EyeMail Technology, Inc.
Audio is linked to external file.
Failed to connect audio source to mux
Failed to run the graph
C:\EYECON>
Any suggestions? I downloaded ATI Camcorder in August, used it for a week in Europe, and now I am tring to convert the .eye/.ear to .avi.
Thank you. Steve
