Hello everyone :)

It is my pleasure to join you and I'm really grateful because I have downloaded some N9210 applications from this site.

I need your help please....
I would like to transfere or copy all the messages from the "Inbox" to the PC but I really don't know how to do that .

I would be more grateful if anybody could help me.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for your reply sekto_1

I need to copy the sms messages to an ordinary folder in my pc so that I can get them back again at anytime I need them.

to you want to view them on the pc aswell or do you just want to store them?

If you just want to back them up the do this

copy the C:\System\Mail folder and everything thats in it to your pc. This will copy all your messages. If you want to restore them then just copy this folder back to the original location.

Or you could use archive manager which comes with the datasuite to back up your commy to an archive and then only restore this folder using archive manager.

But it would be graet if I could view them also if it is possible

I'm really grateful for your positive response

you cannot view them yet, there no application out there that will let you view messages (well as far as I know anyway)

If you REALLY want to view them you have to copy the text in the SMS messages to a Word processor document on your commy and transfer this file to the PC with Windows Explorer.

Update. SMS Journal lets u view sms messages saved on the pc

Sorry for disturbing you...
but I would like to know how to copy the sms messaes from the "Archive" folder - I created that folder in the messaging part-
to my PC .. I mean the same as what I have done to the sms messages in the "Inbox".

If you copy everything that is inside c:\system\mail to another location it copies everything including any folders that you may have created like your archive folder.

othello,

Othello

Yes sektor_1

just as you told me .....

I don't know what's wrong .

sektor_1

that should work, I have done it the same way for my messages.

when u load messaging are there any messages there?
are your folders there?
did you copy the folder back to c:\?
did u just straight copy them across using windows or did u use pc suite?

Othello

the folders are there and I get no messages when I load "Messaging"..

I copied the Mail folder to c:\system using windows

sektor_1

try this then

load messaging
menu
tools
message storage
change tab to memory
where it says memory in use change it to communicator and press move NOT change

or if it says memory card then change it to communicator and select move NOT change.

also

when u copied the files back to the commy u did overwrite the exisiting files yes?

c if u can delete whats inside the mail folder on the commy first and then copy the folder back from the pc.

I'm sorry sektor_1 .... I tried what you told me but I found that "Move" option is not activated because I don't use a memory card.

What is worse is that I can't even write a new sms because I'm being blocked by a note says "Unable to find specified object" when I select "Write short message".

Thank you very much

shit, sorry man, I always back my sms up like that, dont know why it didnt work?

the note not found generally means u have to reinstall the application in question

try this

when your commy restarts and u see the 2 hands press ctr+shift+i

this will delete ini files and reset the settings. try that.

once again im sorry it didnt work.

:-(

othello

use this program to view the sms messages u have backed up on your pc.

the program is freeware.

copy the mail folder from commy to anywhere on pc, and u can then view sms messages.

delete the .zip extension , the file is in .rar format.

use winrar (www.rarsoft.com ) to extract it

the file is in .rar format.

You can backup your phone book into your PC.

Follow this procedure:
- Create a new data base for your contacts (Press Contacts button, press Menu, select File - More_Option - New_database). Name it.
- Select all contact names (point to one of contact name n press ctrl+A)
- Press Menu - File - More_option - Move_to. Select your new contact data base. Yes.
- Go to d:\system\data\ and find your new contact database.
- Move this new contact database to your PC.

Sorry..

It should be:
- Press Menu - File - More_option - Copy_to.

The name of contact database is in *.cdb.

hm.. okay, so if i want to copy the phonebook back to my newly formated commy, i just have to copy the cdb file to it's original folder, opens it, and copy it all to the default database?
are the pics in contacts database are also saved into the cdb file?
oh.. are there any programs that can view or edit the cdb file?

Yes, you are right. You can restore your contacts backup in reverse procedure. This backup file contains everything in your original contacts includes the pics.

You can try it now so you know how it works.

Sorry, I have no idea how to view cdb file in your PC directyly.
