Hi, i have a manual F/M-Bus cable that connects to my com port, that works fine, is it possible to connect the F/M-Bus cable to my LPT1 port somehow to make it act as a flash cable, is that wat the F stands for? if not im no the best at electronics, done some electronics at school but can only remember some so if someone has a step by step guide for someone who knows very little about electronics that would be great!
Thx in advance :)

@ plastic123
F/M-Bus cable is a data cable. Cannot use 2 flash a phone. It also cannot connect 2 LPT1 port. 2 make/convert a data 2 a flash cable U MUST have some workout on the cable.

There is a convertor for you F\Mbus cable you can buy, but you'd be better off just buying a flasher cable! M-99 have the cheapest cables around! They do a full set for 18.75 Pound!;) The F in F\Mbus doesn't stand for Flasher, I'm not too sure what it does stand for, but the Fbus sends ringtones and pictures etc. The Mbus changes settings!;)

cheers, do you knoe the name of this convertor so i can do a search on it?
I think chunkhead means that if you have a PS/2 head, then you can buy a flasher cable with PS/2 socket...but I think you have a one piece data cable?
If so I am fairly sure you cannot convert that to a flasher cable without doing the electronics yourself, I think jeep did that :)
If you have a PS/2 F/Mbus Cable and Head, then you just need to buy the PS/2 Flasher Cable, but otherwise, I think you'll need to buy another complete cable :(

ok just mkaing sure the flasher cable at the top of http://www.m-99.co.uk/PhoneAccessories/Data_Cables/data_cables.html + a 3510i ps2 connector (further down the page) would be able to flash the 3510i fine?
right at this point people think eurgh what a stupid question but here goes.... exactly what software would i use with that cable? and where would i get teh flash files from??
i know you say use the search function but i have a bit and my comp is being really really slow right now (i really should rip to mp3 rather than wma then convert to mp3.. only another 150 files to go :/)
anyway thanks for any help

No electronics involved, it's just soldering wires together :) Just remember that these connectors can't be opened again once you push them closed - so fit those strain reliefs now! (I forgot... and I had to buy new ones when I pulled a wire out....)
Software to look out for is Rolis and kNok, flash files are linked to from many threads.... I won't give links here as it depends what model/version you're after :)
@mosimo - 3510i is a DCT 4 and I don't think any of this works with these phones? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but flashing is currently for DCT-3 only? You can always download the software and see if your phone model is listed, if it's not, then don't try it!

I thought there was dct4 flashing software? Take a look in the dct4 flashing forum for more help :)
