View Full Version : Cannot Prepare Phone (?) 3210

I'm new to all this. I made myself a 3210 flasher cable, but the power connector (Vpp) is a bit dodgy, so I left it off for now.

I'm trying to back up my 3210 firmware first. It's v5.10. I want to upgrade it to v6, and hopefully make my own mods for it.

Both Nokia Tool and kNok asked me to turn power on, and as soon as I do it says "Cannot Prepare Phone".

Is the problem that the firmware (5.10) is too old? Nokia Tool says it only supports 5.36 onwards, but that doesn't seem right.

Any tips would be helpful. I want to make sure that flashing is going to work, and that maybe it's just my cable's Vpp before I spend $60 Australian on a new flasher cable.

Thanks.

ya you must connect vpp also...
its a power thingie that the computer fixes...

its just that your computer could restart your phone and
stuff... I think that was it...

dont know...
but I do know that u need it :)

Do you have to have it even to _read_ from the phone? ie. I don't want to write, just want to read it. The cable is obviously doing something, since it only gives me the error when I turn the phone on.

And is it possible to upgrade v5.10 to v6.00?

Thanks.

Hi,

It has something to do with the auto power on from the software.

I solved it by getting the battery out, and place it ready to push in again.

Then if kNok asks to press on, push the battery in place and immediate press on. (the paper trick)

I have 4 pins, no btemp or vpp, only pin 2,3,4 & 5
And used it both in kNok and Dejan.

Upgrade to 6.00 easily.

Thanks for the advice, NokDoc.

I'm getting "Phone NOT respond (TX=0) ..." in Nokia Flashtool, and "Cannot Prepare Phone" in kNok. I'm thinking there's something wrong with my cable. Is there a program or something I can do to check the cable?
I guess since I can't read or write firmware, it's safe to say the cable is non-functional?

Never mind. I went and bought a proper cable, with the extra two pins, and it now works a treat. Backing up the phone as we speak, so I can play funny buggers with it. :D
