*Newbie* zip files??

Hi guys new here!!! Just got my 3650!! my presious (in a golum sounding voice) Just wondering what to do when i am downloading zipped apps of my pc!! What do i do to send them?? do I need to open up the zipped file then get the prog out and send it to myself via email/infa red or do i send the zipped file straight to me mob?? any help would be appreciated! cheers!!!

Hi and welcome ! :)

You have to unzip your download first by using WinZIP, WinRAR, WinACE or what ever your choise has fallen to.
In Windows XP WinZIP already is included, so you don´t need any of this programs to uncompress a .ZIP file.

After uncompressing you should get any (one or more) of this files:

something.SIS
something.JAR
something.JAD

No matter what you get, you will need Nokia PC Suite or Epoc FileManager and a bluetooth stick or an infrared connection to install them via PC.
In case of a .SIS file, just double click it and the nokia installer should open.
For installing .JAR or .JAD files you will have to go over Nokia PC Suite. Use the search funktion of these forum. You shoud find some explains for this. (I wrote one, too, weeks ago)

Of course you also can send the file(s) included in the .ZIP file directly to your phone via bluetooth or infrared without using Nokia PC Suite or Epoc FileManager. Just send the file(s) to your Inbox of your phone.
Now you will need a FileManager for your phone like FExplorer or SeleQ to open the file you sent to your inbox. It´s not possible to open the file directly from the inbox !!
Start your FileManager (FExplorer or SeleQ) and browse to

C:\System\Mail\

and use the search function of the FileManager to find the file you have sent to your inbox. If you found it, just selct it and open it. The install process should beginn.

cool cheers! also what do i do bout go boy games?? do i need zip man for these??? if so how would i install them from my email box!! ( I have pop3 activated on my mob to recieve from o2!)

Back in the old days when I was still using the infared...I sent the .sis to my inbox and it will auto install upon opening it. However, I used to face problem like if I cancel when the programe install halfway, in my app manager, the app is still install but only halfway too. If in the case of nokia installer, if u cancel half, the installer will remove all tat was already installed.
