View Full Version : 3210 writing eeprom...
Hi, i have a 3210 which found no network and allways reseting. I tought first maybe it need an update faid... (no success) The phone still reseting. (Netmonitor test 35-> SwDSP/ Local )
I reflashed it with a pure flash, but as we know the flash dont have EEprom. I tried to "flash" a virgin EEprom into the phone with Noktool Rolis 1.9b but no succes... ( I am unable to set facory reset most times too...)
How can i upload eeprom into the phone??

I havent try this but I think the Eeprom is stored in a single chip with signature 24C128N ..... so you need Pony prog to flash it..
Check here for more info: www.lancos.com

Does the nokia flasher cable is good for it?
The phone sometimes found network, sometimes not. Still reseting, when im moving in the menus.
I reflashed it many times, tried chuckhead's water demage method but everything failed... :(
The phone give me once Contact Service too (after the 3rd restart...)
I think its become a hardware failure, but dunno what should i check...

Hmmm I guess You cant use nokia cable...Pony prog works with a simple hardware... check the link that I post ...You need to remove this chip from the phone and put it on the pony prog programer..Hmm You know Ive changed the IMEI of a 3210 a few weeks ago so maybe this area can be flashed with a nokia cable and software but Im not sure..Ok....at the end run a test with Eeprom tools 4.0 maybe it wiil give You a point to start from...
Good luck!

Yeah. do the Eeprom tools test and tell us if anything failed! Also try a kill the checksums with Nfader or G3nolite!;)
I will try it today. Chunkhead: Sorry for the dumm question, but killing checksum could repair this problem? In a pure flash without modification maybe need this procedure? Killing checksum is good for what?
Thx for ur help guys, i will try it.

Incorrect checksum can cause load of problems! Contact service, no signal, No Faid symptoms, etc.! Give it a whirl and see what happens!;)
Even if the flsh is pure? I mean i flash many phones with that flash....
Now here is the test! Is everything all right with it?

"Somethings get better"
I tried this killing checksum things. Now the phone wont reset itself, but i wont found network. It stay in (Netmonitor test 1) cell 0 search procedure.
Any idea how to get network too?
(1 more thing: what is the reason when im trying to repair imei with Eeepromtools 3.1 it repairing it but after that i say me " unable to set facorty reset")
Hmm. I tried the undead flash, andnow its wont restart... But still no network. The phone only restart itself when found network. (it can found network after 20-30 sec after an NSPS status in the netmonitor test 1...)
Now im flashing the deadone, maybe it can found network without restarting... (but 20-30 sec is too much!)

I think there is a 3210 virgin eeprom, try the following method, dont know if it will work though?
load the mcu then ppm with Rolis flasher and click the Up Arrow.
File -> save as mcu-ppm.fls (if you dont already have them combined)
Now get the 3210 virgin eeprom from attachment and make sure it is in the same folder as the mcu-ppm.fls.
Now hit your start button and click Run.
type command and click OK.
browse to the folder where the mcu-ppm.fls and the eeprom.fls are with msdos prompt (if it does not already show the correct location in the newly opened msdos window)
Then type the following:
copy /b mcu-ppm.fls+eeprom.fls fullflash.fls
You now have an 3210 fullflash which you can flash to your phone. Then change the IMEI to your original, Clear the SP locks, Update FAID, Reset User Interface Settings with KnoK then Quick Set FAID.
Hope this brings success :)
Sorry, you are right, the above method would make the flash a tad too big
sergo_zmeia seems Strictly confident Its The PA!! ;)
Good Luck.
But when im trying to flash it with rolis, it might say me image too large.. isnt it?
What flasher do u prefer to flash a flashfile just like this (so not ordinary...)

@wwanthony: your tip wont work on 3210, because it has eeprom on different ic.
you can't flash it with flasher-cable, you need eeprom programmer.
i had eeprom security tune checksum wrong in my 3310 eeprom (reported by eepromtools). but real problem was in flash that had some weird errors.

I can write EEPROM's without a programmer, or special cable. Just a MBUS cable, the 1st version of 3210, virgin EEPROM, and NokTools will do the job. Nokia has implanted the Write EEPROM procedure in their first flash versions, for testing. Later, in the latest SW versions, nokia has diabled the feature, wich means that you can't write EE anymore. So basicly, you will need the find one of the first SW versions of your phone. Now, I don't now if your problem is EEPROM related, but if you want to flash your EEPROM without special equipment, follow my advice. Note: Sometimes you don't have the correct EEPROM (Reading is kinda buggy with NokTools, well, I saw your test results with EEPROMTools, and it says that there isn't a EEPROM checksum fault, so you need to Download your EEPROM, check the checksums with EEPROM Repair by Guar, and if this program says that phone is OK, you have the correct EEPROM.)
For other people with 5110's, I use version 5.11 for EEPROM flashing. :)
So u advise me to flash the phone with an old soft and try to write a virgin eeprom into it?
Are u sure about this noktool thing, because i treid further to read the eeprom in other phones with no succes (6210/7110 and so on) all was the same error--> unable to access to xA0000 or somethinhg like that.. (same prob with 3210)
So Are u sure this downgrade thing?? :)
Btw thx, i will try it!
Which nooktool version do u prefer? im have 1.8/1.9b built2
BOEBOE : i tried your method and flashed many old flash to 3210 but the phone not power on now. (version 3.02, 4.02 and many others)
Now the phone power on with version 5.36, but still no network...
It might be hardware error right?

If i remove the cover of it will it damage? I mean is it working without the cover?
Ooooo, now i reheated the PA. The phone found now network! :)
But sometimes the phone freeze and restart.
Netmonitor test 35 (restart reason-> Sw Wd Local) what is it mean?

Dont touch the COBBA IC..its good..in this case try a good working flash
I dont know what this net monitor thing means but try new flash..
