Anyway to simply view text files on my 7650?

Just send ttx files and read them at notes! or convert them into pdb with Ebook maker and read with ebook.

There's also quickword, which lets you view MS Word docs
and MicroCalc for Excel docs.
Then there's Repligo which lets you view all Microsoft office files.
