Hey all, I was wondering why do all the poly ringtones from the net wont use the vibrator function of the phone while ones you get with the phone will use it? Is there anyway to activate the vibrator for a particular tone?

Cheers

Hi there :)
It is a common issue. Most ringtones from the net are created using midi software. The tones can have 4+1 channel max, of which four (4) are for actual sound (music instruments) and one (+1) for vibration! many people don't know this.
The original Nokia tones use this "fifth" channel, if you analyze such a tone with a midi software you will come across a channel with an instrument named "telephone ring". This is the vibrator! If you now edit a tone and add this track yourself, it most likely will NOT work. I did try this and i got a success rate of 50/50, in this case i could "modfy" a original tone to vibrate nonstop or never or whatever by expanding or reducing the "telephone ring" channel, but putting one into a .mid which did not have it in the first place gave a "unable to open this file" most of the time, or it sounded weird but did not vibrate the way it was supposed to.
But all ringtones will vibrate as long as "Vibration" is activated in the phone, but they do so only if the phone actually rings, not in the preview from the gallery. And the vibration won't be rhytmic but standard, one second "on", one second "off" or like that.
I hope this was of help.....
Kind regards...
