hello people,

i'm trying to change the name of my menus (example: Phone Book) in my 3310 v5.57 flash using a hex editor or something like that. i used the program XVI32 to edit. after i save this and flash the file back to my phone, i get CONTACT SERVICE.

what is the proper way to edit in hex programs so that i won't get contact service? i sucessfully changed the menu graphics using NokHex and all i want is to change the MENU NAMES.:o

i hope you guys could help me find the solution, i'm not an expert on this matter.:o

hi use a program called ppmmanager open your file in the program then export the text chunk and open it in windows notepad change what you want to change then import the text chunk back to to ppmmanager
then click tools and update ppm crc

save the flash

then what i do is also correct check sums in a program called nfree
then save
then flash back to your phone

then you`ll have to use a logger (due to signal loss)

see welshwizards web site (he`s a member on this site)

My website is www.wwgsm.tk

my guide is only using a hex editor.

using ppm manager (like takt sez) is alot easier.

(will have 2 put a ppm manager guide up there.)

use ppm manager then export text chunk to a txt file....
then use wordpad to edit the txt file.....
after making changes...save your flashfile then use knok-phoenix and emmulate the flashfile to calculate and fix cheksums...
then flash the file back to your phone

5.03, 5.11 and 5.13 are hard to edit.

5.45, 5.47, 5.55 and 5.57 are not a problem

Using a clean backup which doesnt allready cause contact service, save the TEXT CHUNK with PPM Manager then edit the output text file.save the text file when complete

IMPORT the text chunk, calculate the PPM CRCs and flash and FAID.

you shouldnt have contact service if the originak flash you edited worked without contact service

@ bisdak

Liam is right. 5.03 up to 5.13 is hard then it's ok, although i had some trouble with 5.57 - kept reseting but had good signal (i changed loads of stuff tho, menu pics, menu names, ringtones all in 1 go)

Has any1 managed to change the menu names on a 6210? i cant find them in ppm manager or hex programs.

Hi people.

About text entries of 6210. I think that most of them are packed (Subchunk Flags has $20000000 bit).

But if you take V05.56, lang. pack R - this one have unpacked China language messages, you can see them in my NFE.

Also this PPM have unicode name of Tones, currently not recognozed by my prog.
