Hi, got some problem with my 3650 using a 128 mb mmc. I read using lower than 256 wont be a problem, but if I try to format the card with the nokia cardtool, I got an error. After 2 tries, it shows 122mb but I couldn’t read or write and get card errors. I tried a second 128mb card (HAMA), same problem, but formating the 16 mb stick works fine. After trying to format these cards, I couldn’t format them using my cardreader under XP (sector 0 error). Got firmware 3.16 on my 3650, any ideas? Should I use another tool?

Try a digital camera. And try and format it from your phone in safe mode. Hold down the pencil key when you turn your phone on, and keep it held down untill the main screen appears.
And it's normal for a card to show up as 122mb instead of 128mb. If you look, the 16mb card will show up as 15mb.
1024 Bytes = 1 Kb
1024Kb = 1mb
so by means of doing some mathy stuff,
1mb = 1048576 Bytes
1Mb (by manufactures logic)
is equal to
1.048576 actual
So your "128 Mb" Memory card that you bought is actually:
"128MB" / 1.048576
which gives you a grand total of
122.07031 Mb.
The bigger the memory, the more you will loose. I lost 10 Gigs of my computer's hard drive.

Hello ,
I agree with what you have said and your calculation but why camera function ( rigt above with red numbers) tells me i can take nearly 3200 pics before formatting the memory card..Now after formatting my card is 122 and Camera function says i can take 2600 pix ...So it is obvious that i lost some capacity right? or the card deceives the phone or what?
Accroding to what you said the camera function should have show always the same number of pictures before or after formatting...
Pls correct me if i am wrong...
Thank you

I really don't know man. If I were to guess, I'd say that the mmc card tricks the phone into thinking it has that much memory, and if the card was full (but memory would still be displayed), it would give an error or something.
I really don't know and have no idea what I'm talking about, cos I've just had a nice coner and am rightly fibbled after it. So, sharks, eh? Aren't they great?
