upgrade 6210

any advise on the safest way to upgrade 6210 as i have been reading in the forum about problems people seem to be having when they do this

but will it have any effect on my signal strengh as it is poor at the minute hence the upgrade to see if it might cure it

yes you will have to do a full flash.
there won't be any signal problem if you're using a gsm 900 sim card, if you use a gsm 1800 sim card, sometimes (just and only sometimes on some providers, and some country like IM3 in indonesia) the signal will be lost.otherwise it's ok.
another thing about the 6250 is that it only has half of the 6210 phonebook memory. so it will only have the capability to save up to 250 names on the phone memory rather than the 500 on 6210.
the latest firmware for 6210 is v6.02 if i'm not mistaken.
if you want to modify your phone by changing the ringtones and stuff, i suggest u to use PPMMaker1.6 by Al.
u can find the soft somewhere in the forum.

Firstly, who uses the entire memory of the 6210? You wo't ever notice...! Secondly, you do not lose signal on 1800MHz! The 6210 is known to have antenna switch malfuctions, regardless of the upgrade! You either have it or not! It has nothing to do with upgrading the phone! I cannot recommend the upgrade high enough!

6.02 - are you sure?

Can you give me any more information on this version (i.e. changes made since v5.56) and also where i might be able to get hold of either a full flash or mcu+ppm.

The 6210 upgraded to the 6250 WILL use the 6210 car kit, the 6250 phone won't fit into the cradle! They are a different shape!

I'm not too sure if the highest version for 6210 is 6.07, but like I said, I would just upgrade to 6250! Also try not to get caught up in the idea of always having the lastest firmware! The latest isn't always the best! I still only use v5.57 for 3310\5!
