7650 software update

I've got a Nokia 7650 which has v3.16 software.

I'm told updating to the newest version (v4.37 maybe??) will iron out a few bugs.

To do this, does the phone have to be flashed, or can I download a total software update?

No you cannot download a trial version. Get it flashed at your nearest Nokia Centre for free (if your phone is under warranty - 18 months here in Ireland).
To do it yourself requires a bit of technical knowhow and it is expensive.

4.37...? Never heard of that firmware version i think you mite be referring to 4.39 maybe.. Anyway 5.07 is the latest firmware but it mite not be in your local NSC so you can always go for 4.46, it will get rid of quite a few bugs etc...
Doing it yourself isn't recommened so i suggest you take it to a NSC n they'll usually do it for free.. Well they do for me....

well, if ur fone is workin fine, i dun tink theres a need to upgrade the firmware.
