SonyEricsson Unlocking Query

I recently got a T610 unlocked from a local shop,

What puzzled me was the way he did it as I've never seen this method before, and I am wondering if anyone can enlighten me.

Basically, he had a cable (Could not see any boxes on the cable itself), one end in a Nokia 3310/3330 and the other end into the T610, the T610 was left switched off and he did something on the Nokia which unlocked the T610.

Any ideas??
