N-GAGE with no infrared??!!

Hi there!

Is it just me that finds that having no infrared on N-GAGE is just stupid?? I mean... there's about 1% of the Pc's on the world with Bluetooth...

Anyway, while I'm stil thinking out between 6600 and N-GAGE, does anyone know whether I can transfer stuff (Games and pictures) through the USB, like MP3 are, rather than BLuetooth?? (that is, I'm one of the other 99% so far!)

I don't have Bluetooth either.

I exclusively use the USB connection, with my N-Gage.
Works fine, I can move MP3s, pictures, real media, games, etc.. to the N-Gage through the USB connection. About the only thing I haven't figured out how to move yet are Java games (well how to move and install them rather), but I'm a totall newbie to cell phones, so go figure.

well.... infra red is slow when u r sending big files like mp3s, at least use a bluetooth, which is also quite slow.

anyway, u need a file explorer to install java, juz send it to ur fone, go to e: and find it, and juz open it from there.

The 3660 isn't symbian 7. No ir means no total ir remote which gives me reason enough to never even think about owning one.

Wait a minute. If people play games on the 3650 it's OK but if you play games on the N-Gage... damn...you're just a kid.

Man infrared sucks.... n most ppl here use bluetooth i'm sure, so you're figure of 1% is drastically wrong n outdated.. Ontop of that when you use applications like Remote s60, you need fast connectivity like USB or bluetooth so properly be able to use these programs.. N on top of that cn anyone here image playing geopod of snake or something via bluetooth....? I think N-gage has the correct types of connectivity features...

Yeah, i totally agree with awake, i dont know which 3650 user doesnt use it to play games? im not going to but n gage, but if someone passes over to play better games, its their choice, i dont see why playing games on the ngage makes u an inmature person when most of us 3650 users have installed at least 1 or 2 games to take advantage of our phones!, so, i enjoy my 3d diesel minigolf! that makes me a ten year old??? sorry bout the grammar, but im mexican and im trying my best!, i normally just read the posts and dont reply, but this one really got me mad! and besides the mad stuff, it all comes to what do u preffer, games (ngage) or a camera (6600), me i would go 6600, but ill stick to my old 3650 for a while!

My wife and I prefer the games. And I'm 22, so still fairly young but not quite a kid. I think it's understandable to say the N-gage is geared towards YOUNGER people, but calling it a kids phone or crap is not something I agree with. It's not for everyone, but what is?

When you plug your N-Gage to USB computer seems new "hard drive" so copying mp3's is just drag and drop ;)

I think it was a good choice by Nokia to remove IRDA because it is a waste of space. Who is going to use IRDA when you can use usb??? 10 times faster. and for IR remote I have it on my 3650 and it is pretty useless as the 3650 ir transmitter is crap. you have to be really close to the tv and get in the exact right place for it to work. What you should be balancing up is;

Nokia N-gage
USB and Bluetooth voice and data conectivity
Console games and 3650 games
Stereo speakers
stereo input/output
fm radio
acc/mp3 playback
Nokia 6600
camera
symbian 7 (not many applications and games for that yet)

i used to owe a 7650 wif 3.12 firmware, no prob at all.
now, i owe a 3650, firmware 2.5, no prob, and im happy using it, wif a new 128 mb MMC.

actually, i quite like the ngage for the games it has, thou its too ex. radio and mp3, stereo output, cool, but i dun really like the design, but saying its childish is going overboard.

as for the 6600, its all too early too sae, i will wait for the price to drop, stable firmware, b4 i change, in the mean time, i will stick to my good old 3650.

the 3650 n-gage 7650 6600 all run on the S60 format of symbian, like p800 runs on uiq, both p800 and 6600 are on symbian 7 but niether will run eithers apps but 6600 will run the other 3s apps whihch are on symbian 6.1, the apps are designed to S60 platfrom, not for symbian 6.1 or symbian 7, apps run on win95 and win98 they are different os systems but are on win32 applications, same sort of idea

hey... hey... calm down... I don't want to offend no one... I was just thinking... and if nokia starts to sell pokemon & c games for n-gage? you will see hundred of kids at every corner playing with n-gage... and the people will start to imagine the n-gage as a stupid toy... I hope this will never happen...
