Hi 2 all! I've a big problem restoring my phone backup!!
This summer I've backuped my 3650 phone using Pc-Suite 1.0.0
Last week it was broken but now it's back ok. Now I've to reinsert all contacts and I'm trying using Pc-Suite: it starts restoring.... 30secs left.... 10 secs left... 5 secs left... 2 secs left... 1secs left... -1secs left.... -20 ... -30... -40... WHAT'S HAPPENING?!?!?! It never stops... and my contacts are still empty!!! What can I do?!?! I've a backup of the "Contacts.cdb" too but I don't know how I can overwrite it! File is always in use!!!
Does anyone have an idea?!?!?!
Thx 2 all!!
bye

hmm i had the same problem, lucky for me a had make some diferend backups stored on my pc......
You can try to put onley the contacts back, is an option in pc-sute..
if the app hangs, you can tray to put an ather contacts.cdb in your backup dir(c:\nokia....)....if you got one..

thx, but I tried restoring only contacts... but it's the same! =(
do you think problem could be the backup? I've stored another backup but I haven't yet tried to use that one!
ehm... and how could I restore directly the "contacts.cdb" file? still having the "file in use" error!!!

you can copy/paste contacts.cdb in FLIGHT MODE using System Tools (stools)... and next time install Smart Vcard, it's easier to backup your contacts (import/export)... it saves your contact database in .vcf (microsoft address book format).

I'd use avec backup to be safe next time. It saves your contacts to a server and all you have to do is enter a code to get them back. :-P

yeah flight mode is definately the way to do it, n don't have any idea about your PC Suit problem, but here's a possible solution that mite work.. I believe you've got a backed up copy of your phone on your hard disk rite..?? It'll probably be somewhere like c:\nokia\backups or something, make a copy of this folder n place it some safe place on your HDD.. uninstall PC Suit, n delete the folder which it made for your phone (i.e. probably c:\nokia)..
Now reinstall PC suit, n do a backup of your phone (yes i know you've got nothing on your phone).. Once backed up, browse to the "safe location" where you copied you're previous backup, n paste it in exactly the same location where the new backup is (make sure you say yes to the prompt where is asks whether you wanna overwrite or not).. Now restore your backup to your phone using the Fresh install of PC Suit...
SHd work... Happened with me once, n this procedure worked for me..
Let me know how it goes..

well, what i did was just rename the folder C:\system\Data into anything else.
then copy the contacts file to somewhere safe.
and then rename the data folder back to it was
it worked for me.
