maybe the guys at nokia haven't thought about this one: if u use a mp3 as ringtone on your n-gage, you will notice that if u change the mmc you won't be able to select the tone in the profiles anymore, and the phone won't ring at all if u don't activate another one
simply transfering it to the phone memory doesn't work, the phone does not recognise the mp3. does anyone know if there is a solution for this problem? ( or did i do something wrong... )

if u store the mp3 in ur MMC of course it can't ring with that mp3 if the MMC is not inserted........
..but of course it will ring with the default ringtone...without choosing another one

read my thread carefully bud. i transferred it to the phone memory, but from there it cannot be selected, the phone simply doesn't show the mp3 wether in the music player nor is it selectable as a ringtone.
and it does NOT ring if u insert an other mmc and don't change the ringtone manually. try it for urself.

i have read the thread CAREFULLY:

that's clear.

WTF u mean with another MMC/changing MMC?
if the mp3 is stored in MMC and the MMC is inserted in the phone and the mp3 selected as ringtone the phone will ring with that mp3
if u put off the MMC the phone will ring with a default ringtone.
.....

no no no pal ;)
you seem to not get the point.
1. assume you have the original nokia game card inserted
2. you transfer an mp3 to that card
3. assume you select the mp3 as the standard ring tone in your standard
profile
4. now insert an other original game card, f.e. tomb raider
problem 1: if you don't change the active profile or select an other ringtone in the standard profile - the phone won't ring! really! i'm maybe nuts, but i am no liar :-) and even if it would, that's not very satisfying 4 me because here comes >
problem 2: if you transfer the mp3 from the original ( inserted or not ) game card to the phone memory, the n-gage doesn't recognise it.
not listed in the music player - not listed in ring tones...
so, what i wanna do: i want to keep that mp3 ringtone active on the phone. anytime - no matter what card is inserted. any solutions?

one edit to avoid misunderstanding... when i say the phone doesn't ring, i am not saying that it doesn't ring with that mp3, it doesn't ring at all. if vibration is not activated and you don't see the display lighting come on then you miss the call....

maybe u will also have to save the mp3s under the sounds folder (digital/simple) so the phone can recognize the file...................same as wat happened to my 3650.....................

yeah like i said it's muted if u do what i described. but the idea of 14344 sounds good, i gave my n-gage away as a present but by the end of the week i'll have a new one and try it.
thx guys
