Is there an app like remote control for tv?

I heard a person on my school talking about an app, which you can use to change channels on your television thru infrared? Is there an app like this for the 3650, if so what is the name for it?

Another questin is if there are any apps that allow you to take longer movies with the video recorder, if so what is the name of it?
