Isn't there any way to add a composer or screensaver to an 8210 rom5? (i think it's rom5...i've got v5.21)
It cannot be done a partial flash? just to add it?
What would it take to upgrade rom5 to rom6? it isn't changing the flash chip?? why MAD.

thx

change rom5 cpu to a rom6 cpu, you need BGA soldring skill.

Then upgrade or flash it with 8250 full flash.

Have fun with screen saver and composer.

can anyone say if there is an actual visible difference in the MAD cpu's markings which denote it as rom5/6? I have a few spare boards which I cant be arsed to build into phones to test. also, if software higher than 5.27 usualy denotes rom6, then why does my ancient 8210 still run 5.30 (upgraded by me from 5.26)?

You upgrading the software from 5.26 to 5.30 doesn't make it ROM6 :-)

If the phone was 5.27+ from the factory then it is probably ROM6. If it was less than that from the factory, then it was probably built when they only made ROM5 boards.

You can change the version number to anything you want, but it didn't means you can get a ROM6 cpu after that.

I personally having my phone date and version number modify by me, my phone version is 15.60 and date is 01-01-03....future date.
