NOKIA 5100 Contact Service due to DKU5

Hey all. I bought new a 5100 a month ago. today i had it plugged into my computer at work using the dku-5 cable. all i did was plug the cable in and had the phone charging at the same time. i did not run any software to connect to the phone just let it sit there plugged in. any way when i went to send a sms i noticed my phone had switched off. when i turned it back on it said PHONE LOCKED PLEASE ENTER UNLOCK CODE. i then switched of the phone thinking "What the F**k" when i switched the phone back on i got the infamous "CONTACT SERVICE". I have sent the phone to the local nokia repair agent but can any 1 here shed some light as to why a dku-5 cable being plugged into the 5100 for a idle period of 30 minuets caused my phone to come up with the phone locked message or contact service.

Nokia replaced my handset under warranty. although i would still like to hear you thoughts as to why the phone spat it in the first place so that it does not happen to me again.
