In advance .. I have tried the searches ....
Anyways, the question is regarding app/midi installs on the N-Gage.
The way I understand it (so far), is that the USB cable is only for MMC access, and that Bluetooth would have to be used for app and other file installs. However .... I've only got the work laptop, and we are (currently) not allowing any bluetooth activity on our PCs.
So, what I'm wondering is if it is possible to copy any of these files over to the MMC and install/use direct from there.
Ta muchly, you good people out there.

just use the usb cable to send an application to the e drive (mem card). dont put it in any folders just the e drive.
go to menu- tools- manager- and it should be in there!
just click options install!
it works for me!

just put things you want to install in the mmc
SIS application will work fine, just goto Tools>Manager and you can install it
For java, you need to have both jar and jad, use a file manager to open it

Thanks for that; admittedly, I'm still not sure what I'm going to buy - its either an N-Gage or a 7250i ..... very different phones, I know, but the N-Gage has the games & BT, the 7250i has the camera .... choices, choices, choices!
Another question - how loud is the handsfree/speaker? I'm wondering if it can be used as car kit in its own right.
And ... does it have voicedialling? I can't find it in the manual, so guess not.

if u wan the camera, get a 6600, coz 7250 cam sucks. between ngage and 7250, id def pick ngage. no cam, no big deal, i haf my 3650 for tt. its amazing the amt of things ngage can do, wif 12 mb ram, and stereo speakers. mp3s nv sounded tt nice on my 3650. lol

I've found the voicedial info in the on-line manual ... kinda helped me make the decision - it'll be an N-Gage, unless something else pops up in the meantime.
One last question (do they never end?) - I can see how you install .SIS files from the MMC, but there doesn't seem to be a way of installing Java applications from the MMC - that has to be sent via BT or the web - any apps that can help on that?

well, try getting a file explorer, like fexplorer or seleq, and open it from there. u shld b able to install via the file manager.
btw, app and games sent via bt will end up in ur inbox, juz open it from there to install.
