hi, im new to the forum as you can see, so please excuse any stupid things that may come out of my mouth...!
i have been reading through the posts, and have learnt from doing so that you can only listen to mp3's on the nokia 3650/6600/7650 in mono. However, im sure i also read that if you are using the stereo headset (namely for the 6600 which has a pop port doesnt it?), that the sound (be it mono) comes out through both earpieces....
surely this would only take someone to make a new application then that would allow stereo playback in something as flexible as a series 60 platform? (such as that will be running on the siemens sx1)...
also, is there a radio application so that the headset could be used to listen to the fm radio as featured on other nokia's too?
i apologise if im way off, but the man's gotta know...! ;)
ta,

its hardware, no software can make it stereo. u cant listen to radio unless u haf a radio earpiece. listening from both earpiece does not make ur fone stereo.

ah i see, it must be down to the port you plug the headset into then. Im pretty sure i can modify that to produce stereo.

ah, right...! see, told you i was dense!
okay so its, hardware, i'll wait to hear from bluescreen_uk to see how the modification goes!
also, the fm radio does work then? but you have to have the radio personal handsfree kit?

also, does the 6600 support drag-and-drop via bluetooth of files and applications???
The radio application you were talking about was probaby an internet (gprs) radio application

tts wat i was trying to sae nix, and its obviously hardware of the mono speakers. modifying it def means warr is void.

Turning your fone into a stereo fone through the connector will void the warranty and most likely wouldn't work, but it wouldn't hurt to try. I think if someone wrote an application that took a stereo mp3 or such and then converted it into a mono signal, which has digital encoding or doubles the speed of the sound/ halfs it then a simple attachment for a pair of headphones would make it work. If it encoded it into a digital signal I'm sure it would require a more complex device and would lose quality however the first way, may or may not lose quality. The hardware would only need a very fast and accurate timer chip to split the signals, and a transistor or two. I thought about doing this myself but I don't have enough time on my hands, but I'm sure someone out there could do it.

The N6600 doesn't have a PORT-POP, so no stereo connector as well. Any way the Port Pop is one hellva dicey connector- I loved my Samsung M188 mp3 phone connector much better!

lol.... darn faint bit of sarcasm there..... hehehe.
I have a stereo headset for s60 phones. The sound plays through BOTH speakers, but it's crappy like some AM radio. It's all fuzzy and crackling. So it's ok to watch movies but not for music.

for the umpteeth time, its not the fact that u can hear on both ear pieces, doesnt mean its stereo. stereo is clearer crisp sound, and its hardware; its the speaker tt needs to be changed. the earphones slot is part of the speaker, it plas loud unclear sounds, u hear them on both ears wif no matter how good earpiece.
