Hi guys im new here so bear with me.
Ive got a few phones wich are barred and could do with unBLOCKING!
To do this am going to purchase a griffin box v2.06, but before i do this ive read that i would need to change the UEM. i have opened the phone which im using to test removing the UEM chip on which is a 'nk 8310' and i have found the uem chip which lucks to be nicly stuck to the pcb! its showing no legs or any thing so i was wanting to know, HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE UEM!

My first guess was with a soldering iron
and my second guess would be a heat gun

Could someone please tell me how to remove the uem or have any links that tell you how to remove these sort of chips!
Thanks RJ

that kind of chip is called a BGA IC... BGA is Ball-Grid Array, which means that the contacts are actually little ball bearings that serve as a connection to the PCB terminals. to remove a BGA IC, you need to use a heat gun with a .25 inch nozzle, some liquid flux, and forceps.

note, however, that before reattaching the UEM, you will need to reball it. that is, you need to buy a reballing kit and follow the instructions.

too much trouble if you ask me... if you will only work on one fone, it would be better to just pay ;)
