View Full Version : Nokia 8290 delayed Network

Greetings,

I have unlocked my Nokia 8290 and now it takes several hours to register on the network. As soon as it does register, I can make recieve / calls until I power cylce it. If I power cylce, I need to wait several hours for it to register again. I have tried updating FAID, and this has not helped. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Do you have any solution for this? I have the same problem because I reset my phone to "default factory"


Let me know if you have solution for this.

When you reset your phone to factory values, You are not only resting your UI but the phone's RX/TX calibration. Not only will your battery life suffer, but also network performance. Remember, these things are not computers.

So is there a way I can re-calibrate the rx/tx for my phone? Do I have to call my provider to find that out?

Take your phone to a Nokia Service Center, There are some thing that you can't do at home. :)

As 'wanarace' stated - Your best to send it to Nokia Repair, get a warranty exchange from the carrier or Insurance claim it.

To properly RE'tune' your phone you would need full Wintesla with a RF Generator and Spectrum Analyzer.

If you did the 'right thing' and made a backup of your full flash you could use the tuning values stored in the eeprom area. Those should be the ones that were being used and were calibrated for your specific phone. Reset those values back into the phone and all will be fine.

However if you dont have that luxury besides sending it in your other option is to take another 8290 and use those values but basically your shootin in the dark. You might get lucky and it will work better, however it could get worse since no 2 phones are identical.

P.S. Guess it goes without saying...
NEVER default to FULL FACTORY!
If for whatever reason you 'think' you need to always have a complete back up and know what your in for.
