Im from OZ, waiting to sell my 6610 to buy a 6600. I have a 256mb MMC card for it though. I got it off ebay, came from HK and cost $105 inc delivery, no GST. It took 4 business days to get here too! Pretty good I rekon! The guy selling them is b2biconnect, he is a powerseller and only sells flash media.

In Melbourne you can go to swap meets and pick up cheap mmc cards, they are held every Sundays, check out www.comtrader.com.au on location. 6600 are bloody expensive here! Crazy Johns selling for $900 and on plan with no upfront fee is around $91 a month. Telstra sux!!!

yeah???
mine cost 1200! i paid 530 or something up front and paying like 20 extra on my bill for the next 2 years or something ridiculous.. i was on optus but they screwed me when i lost my phone (it was prepaid) so i said bugger them and got this one from fone zone asap
and i am in townsville qld so i can't go to melbourne swap meets or anything :) and i can't get on eBay at work.. but i dont really have a problem ordering stuff on the internet if i can get a nice big memory card..this phone rocks

$640???? goddamit!!!
optus is my mortal enemy :)
i wanted to stay with them i like their prepaid deals.. oh well

Why, is the price good? From your reactions, I guess it is?
Optus is alright, but I prefer Vodafone AU. However, most of my family and friends use Optus ... thus I am forced to choose Optus Prepaid.
However, by chance, Optus is allowing prepaid users to use free MMS and GPRS until the end of Jan 2004. To introduce the new technology of mobile internet and colour.

add me to the ever growing aussies with 6600's :D
reason nk6600 got his for so cheap was cos he got it from hong kong, not from a "local shop".
Well i got my 6600 for $270 (with a GX20 trade in ;) :D which i paid 799 for 2 months earlier), on vodafone options plan (which is a BYO plan, no min contract, can pull out anytime).
This 6600 has cost soo much more then anticipated :)
- $820 for the phone
- $125 for MMC (from www.auspcmarket.com.au)
- $70 for IrDA from local phone shop
- $30 for Memory card reader (from ebay)
- $25 for USB hub (running out of USB slots as card reader and irda is taking space)
- $56 for BT (still haven't bought it yet, but planning to)
Thank god we don't have to pay for n-gage games/apps/s60 games ;)
I'll be probably spending another 90 or so, to get the "Rose" colour of the phone, looks much much much nicer then the light grey we get
http://users.tpg.com.au/adslne0f/mR_CaESaR/Nokia/Grey_6600.jpg
Some guys from germany sell the front, back and keymat for about 90 AUD before shipping, as soon as they confirm they take my VISA and ship internationally i'll be the first to make the purchase :D
Now i just gotta find a way to put it on :)
So what apps/ngage games/s60 games/themes do u guys have and like on ur phones?
I for one have the following:
Apps
- SeleQ
- Stacker
- SMS Counter
- PV Player
- Ultra MP3
- Mobiclip
- Handy Expense
- Auto Keylock
- Photo SMS
- ScreenTaker
- AppMan
- Splash Photo
- Smart View
- Smart Profiles
- FSCaller
N-Gage Stuff (just installed pretty much evertyhing as i am yet to try them out)
- Space Impact (n-gage or s60?)
- SonicN
- Virtua Tennis
- Super Monkey Ball
- NCAA
- Rayman 3
- MLB Slam
- Moto GP
- Puzzle Bubble
- Red Faction
- Tomb Raider
- Tony Hawk
Series 60 games (wanna recommend some?)
- Darts
- Chess Genius
Themes
- Crystalised (i think every 6600 has this one ;))
- AEFox
- Frost
- WinXP
MP3s
- about 6-7 songs for now
Vids
- About 10 or so .mo funny clips
- 2 .rm animatrix episodes
- 2 .rm vid clips
- Gonna get a movie or so.
And there you have it, 160mb of 256mb gone :D

My Nokia 6600 was bought from Ebay AU, from a seller who's brother was in Hong Kong. Sent with EMS from Hong Kong to Australia direct. Total cost of the phone Nokia 6600 ($640), 256Mb MMC Card($112.50), 6600 Battery (new second battery - $19.99), 6600 UV Clear Case ($.9.99), USB 6 in 1 Card Reader/Writer ($28), Billionton 100m Bluetooth Dongle ($49) and irWave Infrared USB adaptor ($49.95) for a TOTAL of A$909.43 - my total spent money!
Holy crap, Im surprised at the figure myself ... this is the first time I have added up all my spending money for the Nokia 6600!

Hrmm i wouldn't mind getting a 6600, my 7650 is getting too old and I'm sick of the damn memory restrictions. I wen't to Crazy John's in the City and they wanted $91 a month if the phone is free upfront, telscum don't subsidies their mobiles or atleast not all so I was thinking of going with Optarse, they had a good plan, $43 a month with $250 upfront fee but I was with Optarse years ago and I know they haven't improved coverage that much plus most of my mates are with telscum, and well vodaphone I'm not too sure about, I know their coverage is better but I would have the same dilema as optarse that my mates are with telscum.
I might check out Phone Zone and see what deals they have there. I picked up a 64 meg MMC card from the Box Hill swap meet over a year ago for $50 and i got a USB 1.0 reader for $20. I also got a 128 meg SD card from London but I'm not to sure if SD cards work in the Nokia's. ;)

Hi Guys,
I'm on the Gold Coast, got a N7650 still, but i'm ready to upgrade either toi the 6600 or maybe the Siemens SX1, but whatever it's gotta be a symbian phone, lol, Sony Ericcson is a bit too expensive and the p900 hasn't arrived over here yet. Anyway bought a 6600 outright from a shop either on the Gold Coast or from Brisbane at a good price..? tell me about it..
Cheers

Hi,
I'm from Melbourne. Had the n6600 about 4 weeks. Got mine from Crazy John's also. Telstra kept giving me the old "were still testing it for compatibility" bullshit.
I'm a bit pissed with all the bugs and even more pissed about how totally useless Nokia "Care" is. Try ringing them and asking when they might get a firmware update out! They don't know shit and don't give a shit.
I have just purchased a 256M MMC card from biconnect on ebay for $A110
BTW I'm also pissed that my HBH-15 BT headset which worked perfectly with the SE T68i won't work at all with the n6600. I want to buy a Jabra BT250 but with all the horror stories I read about n6600 BT problems I'm waiting until Nokia gets off its corporate arse and releases a firmware upgrade.
Finally, I also can't find a n6600 BT driver for my Palm Tungsten T

No way am i getting a phone thru Telscum anymore, i refuse to pay atleast $40 a month for contract plus another $50 for phone for 24 months with $0 upfront fee. If it was like the old times where they would subsidies the phone and that i would pay say $100-200 upfront and then $40 a month then that would be fair enough. It looks like Vodaphone is following telscums bs ways as well. My only choice now is Optarse direct or B but their coverage is crap.

hmmm... do you need to get the memory card reader? i just want to get myself a nice big MMC
nk6600
10-01-2004, 07:37 AM
You don't need a USB 6 in 1 Card Reader/Writer.
I only bought one to make it easier and faster to copy files onto the MMC from the PC (I have USB 2, with transfers of 145Mb per second!)
Plus the fact, my father uses CF cards and my sister uses SD cards for her digital camera. And i, obviously ... use the MMC Card for my 6600!
In conclusion, you don't need one. You could just use a IRda or BT connection and transfer files through Epocware PC File Manager ...

Nokia 6600: AU$631 (Ebay from Hong Kong), without shipping
Provider: Vodafone
just had it for a couple of days... :D
lovin it!!
im going to go get a BlueTooth dongle, anyone got any recommendations?
it doesnt need to be one of those 100m range thingys... i just want one that is reaonable price, full featured and will give me no problems....
cheers!

Well, if you want a BT dongle that gives you no problems, buy a 100m dongle ... its only a couple Aussie bucks extra. Plus only good stable BT dongles can have a range of 100m.
Trust me, I bought a dodgy one ... and it was shit, unstable, and the case broke off. So buy yourself a good one to save you a lot of trouble.
Btw, I have gone through three BT dongles to find me one that is a good/stable one!

Or the Billionton Class 1 USB Bluetooth 100m Dongle ... that's what I own, great software/program and bluetooth ranges.
But that's my opinion. The one to choose is yours ...

Thats the one i've got! :D
It works no probs, i put it in, it recognised without formatting, i did change the memory card name though :)
Once i got that, i just transferred all my files on my 32mb card, copied it to the hdd, then copied it to the new 256mb MMC. Word of advise, a memory card reader would be very very handy for this task.

haha i brought my irda dongle from Jaycar and i made it myself for $27 but you need a motherboard which supports irda. :-P

You do? Oh, never knew that. I thought that you only needed a good Operating System (you should be using XP lol), a motherboard with USB compability and a person who knows how to install the drivers/software.
Or am I wrong?

Want memory.... pop to Dick Smith Power House, their own brand is quite resonable, I also noticed that Harris Tech (www.ht.com.au) have brought their pricing down. Enjoy .

Hey, it's me again ... Will Wu from Brisbane. 8-)
I decided to sell my 6600 and buy a N-Gage instead. Most of the features on the 6600 I don't need or use. The N-Gage ... radio, mp3, 3d graphics, games ... just what I wanted and needed :D
I'm sure other people out there like the N-Gage as well. But don't hate me just yet, I still like the 6600. But I want to take my chances of trying to get a 2nd phone during the mid-year ... maybe 6620? :-P
Just a thought and a precaution. Nokia better not release a N-Gage 2 or (i) or anything ...
