I have a nokia 6600. Firmware 3.42.1

Every now and then I get an error from my phone with the message: "cannot complete write to disk".

Why am I getting this message? It just happens... not too often but randomly.

There were two instances already that during receiving a message, or after reading a message, I couldn't seem to delete it manually. I kept on trying but it just wouldn't! My messaging settings is configured to use the memory card and not the phone memory. I even tried accessing it via Psiloc's Extended File Manager and Seleq File Manager and tried looking for the problem. When I found the faulty folder (in the "mail" section), I still couldn't delete it. It would just stay there. I tried opening the faulty folder which contained the buggy file but the folder won't open.

As a last resort, I reformatted my memory card so that once and for all the buggy folder which contained the message would be deleted. Then the same problem happened again after a few days. I got another message which I couldn't seem to delete! But this time, not even my message tone was working. Probably also because of that particular message problem (not sure). I reformatted my memory card again and after the reformat, my message tone was back to normal. Weird! After, I reconfigured my messaging settings to use my phone memory instead. I have been using it now for about 2 days. Hopefully it doesn't give me any more problems.

Does anybody know why I'm having this problem? Has anybody experienced the same fuckup? I certainly hope this is just a firmware glitch that could be corrected with a newer firmware version.

Sigh! Help please! :(

Mucho Thanks!

have you tried doing a full reset? *#7370* since you only mentioned reformatting the MMC.

this might solve the problem.

if your message folder is on mmc, then check card connection with phone !

I haven't reformetted my 6600 yet and it's been 3 days now that I have been using the "phone memory" instead of my memory card for my messages. So far, it been ok. No "cannot complete write to disk" error messages. But I'm wondering why sometimes my message tone doesn't finish its tone when I receive a message. It only plays the first half then abruptly stops. For example, I have a message tone that is about 2 secs long. When I receive a message... it'll only play about 1 sec of it then stop.

But it doesn't happen ALL the time. It happens randomly... but it DOES happen.

Has anyone experienced this with their 6600?
