Hello, to everyone who decided to read this post :)
Onc upon a while we do things we did never think to do. Such as myself wanting to flash a Nokia 5130. I did not know how, so i went googling. And ended up on that website... umm what was the adress again? I think... www.nokiafree.org..... can't remember, but in fact it is since the startup page of my Netscape 7.1!
Now, i come here almost daily to see if there are some threads that i could somehow contribute to. Lately that has been made difficult for me, since workload combined with $$ difficulties prevented me pretty much from going online, and now, since i finally lost my job last friday due to my company bankruptcy due to our bank's (!!!) bankruptcy and disappeareance with all my firm's $$, i will eventually spend much less time here.
Evtl. i can start a new job soon, but it will be different - with opportunities to use my PC only on saturdays when i am alone at home (i don't want to bother my boyfriend with sitting in front of the box while he's at home and we could do other things) and i can tell you all, i will miss NFREE.
Today for actually the first time i have read posts in sections i never been before since i did not need to be - SIM cloning, "Other CDMA/TDMA phones" etc. There i found things which lead me to write this thread.
Please, folks, remember one thing: A Forum is usually for EVERYone, which means that people contribute. Some ask, some answer. Moderators are there to keep that in some sort of order, just like traffic cops who ensure road safety, but won't take away from you the need to learn to drive by yourself (or a driving school, respective).
I came across threads where outright promises were made and not kept ("i will upload that tomorrow" and that user never posted ANYthing again) or demands were made, which in my opinion is rude ("if you have it, upload it now and don't let us wait") which was in a different thread, by the way. Yet others had (or claimed to have) something and wanted to "trade" only, with some people even agreeing and posting their stuff (mostly games) but the initiator never filling his/her part.
I am on the opinion, that we should all work together instead of fighting each other, which i have also seen. Luckily in tha particular thread NokDoc took the right actions.
Nokia phones (and others too!) always offer something to tinker with, and to find solutions about (no, you can NOT flash a 3210-flash into that 7250i, using a data cable for a Siemens!). I am very happy to have found answers to many problems that puzzled me, and i am sure other people are glad with the answers i gave them (reading their respective replies, i could really help... i'm sometimes surprised).
I am also on the opinion that NFREE has superb moderators, who are hard-but-fair and quite neutral, not favourising certain persons over others.
So after all, we i have now still some 7 hours and 10 minutes of 2003 to enjoy, then i will be blasted into 2004 and can look back to this year, which found me a great forum, one i recommended to many people and will continue to do so. Since i am here in Bangkok somewhat ahead (time wise) of Europe, i will see "04" on the display of mine current phone (not even a Nokia... but a similar cute Sanyo!) when you guys still drag that old 2003 around with you.... so i wish all of you a smooth transition into the new year and keep up the spirit of NFREE!
What do i expect of 2004? Well, my netwiork provider will go from CDMA 2000-1x to CDMA 2000-EV-DO, there will be new phones, and new problems with them......
I expect a EV-DO terminal (phone!) from Nokia which i will buy and then screw and then ask you guys for help again (i still have that dreaded Siemens cable - can i flash THIS one with it and my good old 3210 flashfile..???).
I also expect to make a hell of a lot of money in some new job that i can stop bothering you with "how can i build my own data cable" and instead just go and buy that damn thing..... but, second tought, then i can no more tell you my experiences with the homegrown thing and some miracles too... (yes, i managed and still manage to run a DCT-3 data cable BEHIND a flasher, and it freakin' WORKS!)
Folks, this was the definitely last post on NFREE from Thanh - for the year 2003, that is!
Don't drink and drive - better smoke and fly :)
Happy new year!
Long live NFREE!!
Kindest regards.........
