View Full Version : 6600 PC Suite
Ok I upgraded my 7650 for the 6600 and got the Vodafone USB Bluetooth adaptor.
I can find and connect to the phone fine in the Vodafone bluetooth software but the damn pc suite dont detect it :-x
In Nokia Connection Manager I select bluetooth and get the error "Media type is not supported. Check you media settings"
In Mrouter I originally had one bluetooth com port which wouldnt recognise the 6600, after some fiddling I now have 3 different com ports and none will find the 6600 either.
In PC Suite it asks me to connect my phone
Any help would be appreciated as I need to get my contact info and text messages from my old 7650 onto the 6600 and theres heaps

Strange problem, i don't have a solution but using avec backup might be a quick fix so you can get your contacts on your 6600 asap. Just install avec on the 7650 then back up your contacts, install avec to the 6600, put in your details and your contacts will be there :)

Hi,
Yesterday i was struggling with very similar problems to yours. Eventually, i've got it working. Mrouter seems to be at the heart of many problems. One thing i did try in mrouter, was to enable all of the com ports to be searched in the properties dialog. Only do this if you don't mind other com ports being held onto by mrouter. On the 6600, in the connection folder, selecting bluetooth, give your phone a name to be identified by, make it available to be seen and slect on or off. That should be all for the 6600. A small black dot appears on the top right of the screen if its on ok.
In your bluetooth software, first get the pc to search for paired devices, it should find your phone and your phone will see your pc. Next, select the option to 'search for available services' for the device. One of them will be a 'serial connection'. You need to use that to connect the phone to the pc via bluetooth. When you get a succesful connection, i.e. no error messages appear, the mrouter icon will change to a green colour. Run PC suite and it should manage to find your phone as the device to use.
Hope this is of some help to u. I struggled like f**k yesterday and couldn't get any help to my questions.
Good luck. It does work and its great when it does.

Yep thanx thats what i just did and it connected on com3 but i had com 3 enabled before and got an error message when it connected.. because of this error i didnt proceed but this time i did and vioala :)
Now I have all my contacts transfered over im half way there. How do i transfer my saved text messages? they need to show who they are originally from (long story but texts from ex wife that i might need for solicitor ;) )

There is a file called pc suite tweaker by 18+2 that patches your pc suite so it no longer uses the dats, maybe someone could post it since it's a patch and not a crack.

Where the hell does it go on the 6600? :-? I put it in e:/system but it doesnt do anything.

Same problem here. Have uninstalled and reinstalled PC Suite. Deleted previous bluetooth serial port and created afresh and still no luck.
I see this question has yet been answered and would very much appreciate hearing any feedback.
Thanks in advance.

hi hi~ i had this problem with my fat boy too~ when i accidentalli uninstalled my pc suite while it is connected to my phone, n had a sychronised database (outlook).
after that i uninstalled few times n tried connectin it, but it alwaes cannot recognised the phone.
my SOLUTION:
1. try w other pple's pc suite, see if it works.
2. uninstall ur pc suite, delete ani folders that were created when u install pc suite, like the default Nokia folder.
3. use nokia registry cleaner (on nokia.com)
duno why after a few days, it just recognises each other again.

Install PC suite to where your windows is, it might help.
It worked 4 me 4 a few times, now it says something like that: Serial connection uses com0 port, and the PC Suite cannot find it. What to do now? ( Already reinstalled PCsuite 4 times, and bluetooth software too, did the nokia patch, and still dont working.
I use Gigabyte bluetooth dongle

I've stuggled with this problem for a month an figured out it is the Bluetooth software. There are sevral different ways to connect to com port 1) the systray icon 2)My Bluetooth places icons 3) search for devices in range. If one doesn't work, try another. I haven't figured out the pattern yet but one of the three worked every time. Let me know if this hleps.

PC Suite keeps asking for the name of your mobile???
RE-INSTALL PC Suite on to your C: Drive (It only works on the C Drive)
I had the same problem when I installed it to my E: Drive. Re-installed on C and now everything works fine.

Hello,
First post here.. Anyway, I have encountered most of the problems listed, and I read somewhere that one should install PC Suite while logged on as Administrator (on WinXP), not just a user with administrator status. I don't know why this is so, but after spending hours trying to get these to work, I finally uninstalled the PC Suite for my Nokia 6600, and this time, logged on as Administrator, and installed the PC Suite. When I rebooted, the software is finally working like it should, and mrouter recognizes the phone with the name set under the Bluetooth network.
My Bluetooth software is from the BT USB adapter that I purchased. It's from Widcomm v1.3.2.7
I tried Microsoft's built-in BT thingy, but that didn't work out well (and I came up with that unknown device with the device number showing instead of the device name). Uninstalled it and used the one the came with the adapter. PC Suite is quite picky, but once you get a virtual BT serial port running (mrouter going green) PC Suite should be able to see your device.
BTW, I have installed it on my Drive D. I don't see any reason why it should be drive-dependent. Someone mentioned file security issues here, and that was what I suspected at first, but after trying the "Run As.." option on XP and seeing that it didn't work, logging on as Adminstrator (which XP should have as it is required during WinXP's first-time installation on your pc) made PC Suite work.
Hope this helps..

This took me a week to find out and it is for pc suite 6600 for xp.
What you have to do is to change the compatibility for all the *.exe files in the nokia pc suite and the intuwave (=mrouter) folders.
Start the windows explorer and browse to "program files/nokia".
Right-mouse-click on one of the exe files select "properties" and go to the tab "compatability".
Here you can change the setting. Set it to "Windows 98/Windows ME".
Do the same to all the other exe files in both nokia and intuwave folder, restart and.........!!!!!! It works great here. Let me know if it works for you too.

i've just upgraded to 4.09.1 and i now have the same problems with the infrared connection of my 6600 to pc suite. i can connect fine with handset manager 6600 but not with pc suite anymore.
what i really want to do is make a backup of my mmc card because i just bought a 128mb one.
Is there any program other than pc suite that i can backup my mmc card to the pc and copy it to my new mmc card?
has anynoe found out why the infrared connected pc suite doesn't work any more?

i read somewhere here that the firewall might be the reason. so i found the firewall settings for mrouter and changed then. and it worked :D
