I have the same problem cannot connect my notebook irDa to my commi.
I have tried to install irDa from the Menu/PCSuite../Install IrDa, but there is a warning like this:

The software you are installing for this hardware:
IrBridge Kernell-Level Interface
has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP. Continuing your installation on this sw may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. etc.
After reading this warning, I just stoped the installation.

My question is should I continue the installation? Does it really harm my operating system?

It is ok, you can install the it, carry on, ignore the warning, all the warning means is that the driver that is going to be installled has not been tested by microsoft, it doesnt mean anything.
