I've just checked my phone and my formware is v5.11 dated 9/12/99, I understand there is a new version available.

Can dsomeone tell me where I can get this firmware and how I flash my phone with it..

Hi,
theres many ways to upgrade and modify your mobile, loads of tutorials and detailed descriptions can be found in past posts within this forum, theres a search function which would bring you some answers to most questions.

With your 8210 it may be possible to upgrade it to an 8250 with extra functions and all you would need is a flash cable. visit my website for a tutorial.

unfortunately most of the flash file sites have gone but they can still be found by searching the net.

and the conversion kit, all users please use winrar to unpack the .zip files as winzip might not work winrar 3.2 +

Just to add about the conversion:-

Your 8210 needs to have a DSP ROM of 6
Many 8210's have DSP ROM 5 which cannot be converted :sad:

to find out the ROM type for your phone just connect it to rolis 1.8 and click on read phone info, the DSP box on the very bottom right corner shows the DSP ROM type ;)

I have just acquired a ROM5 8210. Apparently it has problems with losing the network signal sometimes, but I haven't had it long enough to know.

Does anyone have the latest 8210 firmware? It has v5.29.

What will happen to a ROM5 8210 if you try and flash the full 2MB flash from a 8250 onto the 8210?

If you need some more info about converting 8210 (ROM6 ) into 8250, go to this site (http://www.mobilestuff4u.com/upgrade/8210-8250.html).

The first time i tryed it, i wasn't abe to make it work, but after finding this site, it's working!

Dear Sirs,

I reading there that you flash the software of a 8210 to solve a problem that it sometimes loosing suddenly signal. ..
I have a 8210 doing the same... I had screen problems at the same time .. I think it was linked..
Because I do not believe so much that these both problems may have serious chances to appear at the same time !!
I changed screen, with new rubber contact (this is mostly important)
and for now. . no any other problem !!

But I want to know, this loosing of signal suddently, is it a known software problem ?
