Isn't GPRS class 8 the fastest

leespud
17-01-2004, 01:05 AM
it uses 3g streaming technologies!! the main reason is the american market doesnt have a 6600, if only this phone was released world wide instead of the 6600 it has almost everything i feel the 6600 had missing

gcakmak
17-01-2004, 01:10 AM
for now yes but next year the slowest

that damm nokia produce a new phone model every month

but for me 6600 is the best for next 1.5 year 8-)

if so many people won t change their phone every month
they will never produce useless phones

Personally I think Nokia has plans of bringing the 6620's features to the european market and the asian market. Maybe not now but definitely this year for sure if you would base it on past releases.

I bought a 7250 and a couple of months after, 7250i was released. Making the 7250 sort of phased out. That also goes for the 6800, 6820. They keep selling products that are "half-baked". I recently bought a 6600 and it cost so much, I hate to see 6620 here after a few months.

yea, me too. im so dissapointed. when 8310 was first released, i immediately bought it. but it was infested by bugs so i bought 6510 which is almost like 8310 but so much better. then came other fones which i think were recycled features because they look and feel almost the same. and here we are, 6600 and 6620. poor me, got no more money left. lol

so who cares bout the 6620. 6600-owners rest assured! the 6620 has so little more features than the 6600 to make up for its styling deficit. LOL
I mean... am i the only one who notices that it lost the streamlined cues of the 6600... it looks like a fat 3530.

star4xtian
18-01-2004, 08:53 AM
I kinda notice that it looks kinda weird. Truthfully, I don't like the new design. Yes it looks a bit fat because they chose only one color for the faceplate but then again it's just my opinion.

why people want to buy similar phones ı mean if you have 6600 why do you buy 6620 it is same phone appereance is same most of the things are same are these people so rich or stupid anyway buying 6620 just for stereo mp3
comon buy a mp3 player you can listen more .also faster internet you can surf 25000 hours at the internet with that money .last one more memory
ı mean 10 mb puf!!!!! buy a mmc card

ı think the best phones until the 2005 is 7700 and 6600 but ı dont like touch screen phones so ı decided 6600 but nokia is going to add tv tax to 7700  because you can watch a good tv with 7700 so ıt is going to be very expensive. strange is nt it

nk6600

I don't like it.

Firstly, the 6600 was the king of the new design. with the 6620 coming out based on the 6600 ... the design seems old (not for 6600! )

Secondly, Presence ... a new feature. Why not just use Full Screen Caller? Blacklist, Whitelist and even fullscreen thumbnails

Thirdly, GPRS and EDGE ... if you want EDGE, but a phone which specializes it. In fact, GPRS is just phone internet ... just for handy usage. Not like we're gonna need a broadband/cable internet connection on our fones ...

Fourth, standby time is up to 8 days? Bullshit. Nokia claims that the BL-5C battery can last 240 hours (aka 10 days) on the 6600. And for most people, doesnt even last 24 hours. 8 days on 6620? I dont think so ...

Fifth, the integrated camera still has a 2x digital zoom? Shame ...

Sixth, 12MB internal memory and included 32MB MMC card. 32MB MMC Card? Available with the 6600. 12MB Internal Memory? Buy a 256mb MMC Card! Or even better, wait for a compatible 512 Mb MMC Card (maybe 1025Mb!!!)!

Otherwise, the 65k colour TFT screen, MMS, SMS, Video capture, xHTML browser, Sync, Wallet, Bluetooth, Infrared, Java MIDP 2, Polyphonics are all available on the Nokia 6600. Why waste another stash of cash on something that's worth to bash?

nk6600: for one because the 6600 is now obsolete and two it looks better and three I haven't got a 6600. haha.

nk6600
19-01-2004, 09:33 AM
Yes I know. All the non-6600 users are happy that the 6620 is being released in April.

However, how would you feel if you had a 6600 ... bought it with cash or on a plan or something, and the 6620 was just announced due to release. How would you feel?

How I feel? As a 16 year old, I'm pissed off at Nokia's action of half-ready phones.

I'am like so confused on whats going on i'am from Australia when i bought my 6600 about 2 months ago, i heard rumors of nokia 6600i which really shook me up cause i just bought the damn thing, now that rumor has turned into 6620 the amercian nokia 6600 with the lot. :-P

thanx good that rumor has only applied to the states so far. Oh whateva has happened to nokia 7700 i think and i only hope lol that this phone will be the 6600i of australia, i hate this I concept and many others will agree that you buy a really expensive phone and the i gets you after couple months leaving you with an outdated model which no wants and unupgradable.

i had a nokia 7250 and had to replace it cause of this i thing i only hope if nokia brings out an improved version of the 6600 to australia they change the model number it would be a really help why release the bloody same phone isn't it i = idiotic

People lets not encourage nokia to release a new version of the same fone which we already got. The Amercians are really lucky for what they got. But for the rest of us we should be happy for what we got. Wanting to replace the same fone you got is just i = insane lol.

I wouldn't be supirised if we don't get a 6600i instead we might just get the 7700 which is coming out about the same time as the 6620 but itS looks are just as worse as the 6620 and what about the nokias first 3G phone the 7600 looks like a leaf or purse :-o , I wish i got a 7650 but i was a i = idiot and got a 7250 the camera in it was crap i guess thats why they brought out the 7250i the 7650 never ended up getting replaced with the so fortold 7650i.

If nokia releases the NOKIA 6600I why bother to get a nokia phone ever again ain't nokia i= increditable!

Well it seems to be that alot of the N6600 user and owners are dissapointed with the release of the N6620... I am sure this phone will definietly meet the standard of the next generation phones.. as you all remember the phone transition came to an abrupt stop and a gradual change from 2G to 3G.. this is why they released this phones like N7650/N3650/N6600 to be the transition period. which is the 2.5G... as far as capabilities 3G phones will be alot faster and better communication speeds. which will definietly overpass the 2.5G standards. As part of the EDGE / WGSM / WCDMA era the 6620 will be the first batch of 3G phone capable... for the 6600 well no software updates or upgrades can be done... basically you will be needing a EDGE capable hardware... so all 6600 users will have to change there units jsut to go with the tend of technolgy... its like SMS - MMS - BROADBAND....
Video Streming is possible and video conference and video calls are also capable... .. well sorry to inform the N6600 buyers that nokia released their phones for the consumers as part of there strategy to be one of the leading celphone manufacturers but if I were to get a phone the 6620 or the equivalent to be released for ASIA and EURO market will be the best transition phone....... just wait for the next symbian phone to be released for our market.. ill tell you it will be alot better than the N6600

Yeah I agree the 7700 look promising and has all the great features that you ever wanted on a Nokia phone ... but with all of this features it also will come out with a very good price tag .. maybe it will come out at around P50K thats about $1000 wooow that too expensive for my pocket just for a phone

The EDGE technology is typicaly the next wave of high speed communications EDGE (enhanced data rates evolution) will run in a 384kbps transfer rate which in reality is like a hype DSL connection on the internet. which is alot faster than a standard 56K connection. and can be considered as a 3G technology.. but not purely in sense since this is still under the GSM/WGSM/EDGE network running at TDMA 200MHZ. under the IMT -2000 standard 3G main platform will be the use of W-CDMA running in a 1.9-2.0GHZ spectrum and at data rate of 2.0 mbps ... roughly like having a E1 internet connection in the palm of you hands....

well what you said is true this phone really is alot better than the 6600, I find it alot faster and has more microprocessor power than the 6600, have tried the new EDGE technology... well if you are using GPRS and get connected to the web try downloading something like a video clip by streaming using real one... you will see that the n6600 connection is slow and slugish .. like frame quality is in the 10 fps but in the 6620 its fast like its on broadband internet using a T1 line .... no sluggy frames and its like a 24 fps show using the real one installed on the 6620 the movie tested was directly streamed from the net. sound quality was superb for a small phone but you cannot compare it to a large component system.. its as good as an old pocket stereo.. picture and video quality during taking is almost the same as the 6600 quality but it take good pictures at low light all the other features are outstanding. If this will come out in the asian and european market... i feel sad for the owners of the 6600 cause you will find your phone to be obsolete...

Dont worry on this of course nokia will come up with something better than the 66 series phones... but for this model the 66 hundred i mean the best version will be the 6620 for the US and the 6600 counterpart for the asian / european market. nokia will not use other version like the 6640 for the same version phone... if they come up of a new model for the 6 series then it may be the 6700 for asia / euro and the 6720 for the americas. 20 designating the difference in bandwidth and for use in US teritories... like the 5110 and the 5130 phone we are talking about the same unit right...

6600i is fake, it was a story made in Singapore or Tawain so that the story sells. Don't believe it, trust me on this one ...

6620 however is happenning and real (unfortunately!), it was announced in New York and is going to be released for the Americans only as they announced, and based on the GSM tri-band settings.

It would be alright if they made the 6620 into a totally different phone as in a totally different looking phone. If it wasn't based on the 6600, I definitely would not buy the 6620. However, I'm on the verge of falling to the darkside and buy the phone if it comes in Australia.

So ... cross our fingers and hope it never comes. Because I love my 6600 just the way it is ... plus, it looks more original :D

the main diff in the 6620 is the network capability. its basically for american networks that run on 850MHz like cingular. now all american companies are planning to come out with that network. the last i heard was that the 6600 is going to be released in the states exclusively by T-Mobile. the 6620 does have some more features but they are not of much use if your network dosent suppot 3g. moreover the only network that i know of that supports 850 MHz in USA is cingular. so u do not have to be worried about the 6620 is just that nokia has to keep on coming out with new phones so they just enhance one or 2 features and release it. i am sure ther is going to be a 6630,6640,........etc to follow.

Am i wrong in quoting this: But the Nokia 6600 wasn't released in the US?

I read this from somewhere ... which explains why they're making the "limited edition, US Exclusive 6620"

But if it isn't, let's just say ... the 6620 is the exclusive version for Americans

And hopefully Europeans, Asians and Australians (any Africans? ;) ) will be happy in using the 6600 ... just as we bought it before the disastrous 6620 news came out :-P
