My mate got himself a 6600 on the vodafone contract. He bought it from the same people as i got mine from but there are very big differences between the two.

For a start his came with a vodafone badge on the back and a vodafone live theme preinstalled, so what i hear you cry but heres the bad part. I tried to install sonic on it using the blz installer and it came up "file corrupt" so i tried again and again with the same results. I formatted the mmc just in case there was a corrupt sector or something then tried THPS.blz, same thing happened.

So I gave up with the ngage games and started installing other things. All was going well until i tried to install doom, mmc support installed and so did doom.sis but when i tried to install doom-core1.sis it said "file corrupt", it also did this with 3Dmotoracer and a few other sis files.

So i'd managed to get a few things on and they needed registered. First i tried psiloc screen saver, i used an older one since the newest ones aren't cracked but the phone already knew that the version i was trying to register was already out of date, it shouldn't know this unless i had installed then uninstalled the newest version.

So it sounds like nokia have woken up and realised that they need some sort of protection against cracks, either that or his phone is buggered. My worry is that all the new 6600's that come out are like this and when we get a firmware upgrade we will no longer be able to play ngage games or use old psiloc products.

Hmm, tried formatting it? Its possible that the vodafone crap was loaded onto the phone _after_ it left the factory - ie a format would get rid of it.

I had vodafone crap on my 7650 when I bought it, but as soon as I got a firmware upgrade - presto! nice clean os as nokia intended.

The firmware upgrades you get from an NSC shouldn't be operator branded :D

I'm going to try formatting it and if that doesn't work (which i don't think it will) the firmware upgrade should work, unless nokia has fixed all their newest firmware in a similar way.

regarding psiloc, it did the same thing with my 6600, but from another board, they helped me by telling me to set the date earlier, say 2002, then register using the keygen, then set the date back again.

Heres the files i can remember that didn't work
sonicn.blz
tonyhawks.blz
total irremote 1.32
screen saver 1.5 (or 1.6 i cant remember which)
doom core1.sis
3d motoracer.sis
oh and when i installed the blz installer for the second time it didn't show up in the menu, i had to launch it with fexplorer
Give some of them a try and if they work then we'll know if it's his or all of the vodafone live units. Either way I can see a firmware replacement sometime soon, bloody glad I got in there quick and got one of the unbranded models.

Hey Ive got a 6600 on Orange last Saturday..V 3.49.1 05-12-03 but it still got a few bugs...I changed the date back to 2003 and install loads of apps then put the date back to 2004...it works sound..also it came with Orange software..that soon went!

so does it mean that most of the softwares that work previously and kinda has some problems now are due to the date... maybe there is something hidden in the software packages that needs updating based on 2004 dating

I have the exact same problem as you have just described with vodafone live. I installed 5 cracked games and none of them will work.

woah its been a long time since ive been on here

Anyways back to business....My thoughts on this are (with regards to the N-gage games) to get the whole folder like from mIRC and just use an MMC reader/writer and just plonk the folder straight onto the mmc...my bro got a 6600 at the weekend from orange, havnt a clue what version but ill check
i knicked the folder off my old n-gage MMC, pasted it into the system file and sonic works a treat
the colours on the start menu and small screen are really shit but when u increase the screen size the colours are fine
ill have to try installing some of the programs you listed and ill get back to you

speak to u again

Download mIRC, when it connects and asks you for which channel to use, type in either #mediaplace or #aivanet

when it loads type
@find virtua tennis
or what ever the game is

some windows will appear on the tolbar, open them and type what it says after the filename it has found i.e. /ctcp HiH Files in the main window. do not close this window

this will load a new window, look at the window which i said not to close and look at the file you want...if it saya e.g N-Gage/Games/filename.zip
type in cd N-Gage
then
cd Games
then
get filename.zip

then your download should start

I hope this helps. i know it sounds really blubberish but its the best description i can give in the time given

regards
