I purchased a 3660 2 days ago.
Software Version 4.57
21-10-2003
NHL-8

The video clip recordings are too grainy and patchy . In short...extremely poor quality thats not even acceptable by any standards.

Surprisingly my friends 6600 ( in the same room with same lighting ) produces such a fine quality video.

What could be wrong with my phone??

Also, when I take still pics, there is absolutely no such grains or patches visible once the picture is clicked , so that probably means its not a lens problem.

Kindly Help!

well my 3650 is producing better vids than my girlfriends 6600, but the still pics are better, your problem of your video was encountered and explained in the 6600 review on www.mobileburn.com cant remember what the cure was though

Are you using any 3rd party video recorders?

My still pics r good but video is so crappy . I dont know if i shud take it to Nokia , they are just gonna screw around with my new phone and I dont think they'd bother to go beyond reinstalling the OS.

If it doesn't solve the problem they'll ask me to leave the phone with them for a week or so. By the time I get back my phone I wudn't know if the problem is solved or not, and sum parts inside wud have been swapped with inferior quality chinese substitutes... and probably a minor scratch or 2 cannot b ruled out as well......

Check the Settings of Real One Player. Video should say --> high framerate & Automatic scaling set to "On". Hope that helps!

I'm afraid u got it wrong.

I dont have a problem viewing clips downloaded from sources OTHER than the camera lens......

I have a problem when i'm actually recording a short movie clip .... it's very very grainy.. ( the viewfinder)
and once recorded and saved, it's the same while viewing as well.

I'm clueless! Searched just about every forum n thread I know

hmm ya.... u get nice lil video recordings ok....
about an inch across and 9 seconds long....
even the cheapest camcorders can give it a run for its money.....

n u wasted what?
an additional Rs. 6 ,000 for that function?

cuz apart from the video recording thingie, the 3660 just rox n there's nothing the 6600 can do that it cannot !

Besides wait until summer, u'd b so frustrated with ur fingers sliding off the slippery joystick u'd wish u had a 5 way rocker joypad instead

ar well, 6600 is good, so is 3650, but they cant b compared, diff os, and 6600 is def better cam/video wise. pity 6600 isnt so stable, otherwise id long got it.

and oh, 6600 can play more ngage games then 3650, more ram, better sound, themes, and 6 mb internal mem.

to each his own ya? u prefer 3650, i prefer tt, no offense here.

Hi SNMPwalker,

I have the same complaint. Video is grainy - looks like a software problem, because the cameras of both phones are the same. Note though that the 6600's video recorder was made by Emuzed, while the 3660's was made by Hantro. Maybe that's why. The only downloadable Emuzed video recorder I found is HipCam, but it's still poor in quality vs. 6600. Just wondering how that other post was saying that his 3650/3660 had video quality better than 6600, wonder what version he's using?

my personally feel is that 6600 video quality should be better than 3650, cos its 65K vs 4K colours. how do u do a fair comparison?

its very different, mate.

But both 6600 and 3660 have 64k colours? the vids must be the same :( unless the software youre using?

Is the symbian platform related to this? (i think not) maybe...?

What do you think guys? ;)

is the lens the same?

6600 lens description as follows - VGA (but of cos!) 3.5mm 1:2.8

Yep! maybe that's one reason why the 3660's video is still crap.

The 3650 and 3660's lens are the same :( not like 6600

try using philips camcorder pro. really good quality of vids on my 3650.

i use the pro video quality setting and the vids taken are alot better than them taken with the built in vid recorder

3660 camera is the same VGA 3.5MM 1:28 as the 6600s.

I also tried using Philips Camcorder Pro. Its better than the 3660 default, but if you compare it to the 6600's built-in recorder, it doesn't compare at all. I'd say the video is 2-3x better on the 6600, plus better capture in low-light conditions.

Thats a shame, coz i cant get the 3660 version anywhere. On irc its 6600, and on aiva net its not the right file, its like a few hundered bytes.

there isnt a 3660 version specifically. its the original version that works on 7650, 3650 and 3660

try this link and try the 3rd from the bottom of the list (Philips Camcoder Pro v3.7.4)

<no direct links to warez>

this one should work for ya :)

btw if the link dont work, i just searched for philips in the symbian section
