mp3 converter help please

I want to converto some Mp3s to amr in order for me to use them as ringtones, I cannot use nokia multimedia converter as I only have WIN98 and I cant change this as it is the computer at work, can somebody please tell me which programme I can use as in the forum

erm, not sure bout amr, but u can convert to wav format, sounds the same, smaller in size, and can b used as ringtones. convert using the pc suite, send the mp3 via pc suite's file transfer, it shld convert to wav.

place in sounds/digital folder to enable it in profiles.

i tried converting mp3 to wav, but the file size went up from 4 meg to 12 meg

what am i doing wrong??

use the nokia multimedia converter, or juz send the mp3 via pc suite, it will convert to a smaller wav for u.

WAV is uncompressed whereas MP3 and AMR are compressed.

well, a normal 4 mb mp3 converted by pc suite is ard 1++ mb, and sounds exactly the same as the mp3 will sound on ur fone, because pc suite configures the mp3 to the exact bitrate of sounds ur fone can play.

not so sure bout amr thou.
