6600s other format code

I know about *#7370# but what is the second format code for the 6600? I read it somewhere but i've forgotten it. It's something like "hold down 3, pencil key and # or *" while starting up the phone, thus negating any need for the service centre when the phone wont go past flashing up nokia a couple of times.

The first noob who mentions *#7370# gets a mighty slapping.

Press and hold 3 keys:
Green dial key, * Star key, no. 3 key on keypad and then press the power on/off to switch on the 6600 phone.

Guys there's another code i.e. *#7780#, i think it's the same as *#7370# but not sure.. anyone got any idea...?

Yep *#7370# and *#7780# seems to be the same code. I haven't tried it, but the warnings are the same.

*#7370# - Restore the phone to the original settings when it left the factory
Green + * + 3 - Format the phone entirely

I have formatted the phone. The whole screen becomes the bar ... the black fills the white until it is 100% complete :-P

The "Green + * + 3" formats the phone entirely ... as in reinstall the Symbian OS by itself (right guys? :-? )

The *#7370# or *#7780# only restores the original settings.

If you have something non-functional ... I suggest you try Green+*+3

But make sure you have the contacts, papers backed up etc

I just had the new firmware in my nokia 6600 and want to format it.
The old way to press the 3 buttons does not work with this new firmware :(
Anybody knows how to format now ?

or try again, rem its to press <*><3><call> buttons, then power on, keep holding.

Can anyone help me in regard to my Nokia 6600. I cannot format the phone by *#7370# or *#7780# because when I turn on the phone, no key is working. It is totally hanging. No matter how many times I try to press any key, it just gives the error message, General: System error. Kindly help me with this. Thanks!

try to remove ur mmc first then turn ur fon on. if it works then u had installed something that runs at start up and causes a problem. if removing the mmc does not work, i think u need to flash ur fone.

I've done everything including removing the SIM and MMC but still, can't solve it. Even the Call button, 3 and *. It is totally not responding when there is a SIM (with or without MMC). The only time it responds when there is no SIM and MMC and there is the message Insert SIM Card. But I do not know the proper formatting keys.

i had that problem ages ago, but my fone worked wen i took out the mmc.
i think u need to get it flashed bcoz theres no way to format it.

u can get ur fone flashed by going to nokia to do it. free if ur fone is under warr.

I thought my 6600 needed a format again (Green * 3) but then I realized that my battery was dead ...

As I told before, I have now the latest firmware and pressing and holding down those keys does not do anything.
No format, no bar, nothing.
Any idea on how to format now the nokia 6600 with the latest firmware ?
The code for a hard reset work, but not everything is erased doing that :(

hmmm... maybe the stuff not deleted are on ur mmc? try formatting mmc too?

OK, formatted the MMC and now everything is fine. :)
Was curious about a way to format the phone though using the old way does not work on the new firmware.
