I got a new 3660.
Fully charged/Discharged it for atleast 5 times.
My problem:
With about an hour or less of talktime (includes 20 minutes on loudspeaker) and about 50 SMS and 10 MMS and sum 15 - 20 mins of WAP surfing, the phone only lasts 24-25 hours on a full recharge...
Is this normal?
Any other 3660 user care to fill me in?
How about 3650 and 6600? Are they faring better?

Well, I can only tell you about the 3650. My phone last about 2 days with minimal usage (i.e. only a couple of calls maybe play 1 game for about 20 mins), but if i am constantly downloading games and watching movies and calling people, it last about 24 hours. I hope this will give you some basis for comparison :)

hmm...sounds fair.... my fone lasts only haf as long as yours ( as far as I can guess by what you wrote)
But then I heard the 3660 will last less than the 3650 cuz of the new Active TFT screen against the 3650's passive reflective matrix...which is less taxin on the battery

well, my fone lasts from 2 to 3 days (3650). i call and mass sms sometimes, not often.
my ngage on the other hand, most is 1 and a half or 2 days, gotta recharge it everydae, listening to mp3s and playing games is a chore.

3650 is not much help since it has a a passive matrix screen as opposed to the 3660 active matrix.
active matrix eats more battery power.
ANyone with a 3660 or 6600?
how much does ur's last?

got my 3660 and recharged it for 3 full cycles(battery BL-5c made in hungary).....same performance.
only 30 mins of talk(15 of which on loudspeaker),45 mins of GPRS,2 sms,30 mins of gaming, couple of pics and a 10 sec video recording,20 mins on infra red with pc suite.........lasts for approx 24 hrs.
and YES,TFT screen has higher energy demands......read the 3660 review on mobile-review.com(english version).

oh,i forgot 2 ask u:
does ur GPRS hold sign(G/) stays always on even if set to "when needed" and does ur ringtone volume remains maximum when u turn vibration OFF???
such problems were there with 3 brand new 3660`s!!

With my 6600, I use the camera a lot every day and play quite a few games aswell and the battery life lasts about 12 hours.

I use constant Bluetooth connection, surf on WAP pages with a GPRS connection. Send multiple MMS
And play JAVA Games/ N-Gage Games.
Lasts me less than 24 hours. Have to recharge everyday.
{I do have a spare BL-5C battery, but it's non-genuine}

Yes My GPRS [G/] Sign remains on even when GPRS is set to WHEN NEEDED.
I dont think it's any problem.
If i have incoming SMS (which is a GSM service) the G/ disappears and i get that lil tower Icon...
but if I've just sent an MMS or browsed a website n closed it...then the square around the G goes away but the crossed G still remains until I get the next SMS or incoming Call...
So it's nothin to worry about anways...
I mean, it does no harm at all...
does it
I dont even think it's a glitch or a bug...
Why wud u be worried???

well,
according to my previous experiences with recent/new gprs-equipped Nokia phones and according to thier manufacturer Nokia: the crossed G sign should only appear when u recieve an incoming call while ur using gprs, the square surrounding the G sign normally dissapears and crossed G takes place until ur done with the call........it asks u if u wanna resume gprs session or not....etc
that has always been the case with Nokia 5100,6610,7650 and 3650(the last two models running on the same symbian 6!!)
U didnt answer my question about the ringtone volume being only at maximum when vibration is ON........try to test it for me:)
as for me being worried about that G sign, well,it`s not the sign that worries me,but may be it`s an indicator to other bugs that`s all.
can u run/play overdrive.sis game on ur 3660?

My 3650 lasts about a day and half. 30 min talktime and 15 min browsing.
I miss my 6310i, i'd charge it and it'd last a week or so, but thats with my old limited plan (200 anytime). Now with the 1000, it drains a lot quicker(the 3650).

Hmm...well if u notice the SMS service also connects to GSM by defualt, and whenever i'm on GPRS it is put on hold if I have an incomin SMS.
So, SMS disconnects the GPRS service as well.
Now about the icon on the 3660...maybe it's a part of the new 6.1 OS which is inherent on the 3660
OR maybe there is a 3rd party app/game u installed which periodically tries to check for sum update or sends sum info to it's website or smthing .n hence the G and crossed G
Or maybe the fone is smarter now and tries to itself check for MMS waitin in the inbox by auto connecting at periodic intervals
I mean it cud b anythin , but the best part is, it's not like a hole in the screen , a dead pixel, or a fone that keeps dying on me,......it's just a sign in the corner which does not even hamper with any of my incoming/outgoin SMS/MMS/Calls....... so i'm Happy :-)
As far as the ringtone is concerned, No my volume remains the same even with the ringer turned off.
I'm using one of the tones that came with the system, perhaps ur using sum other tone ...try one of the built in tones.
Plus, i'm using a polyphonic tone....... which one r u using? amr?wav? try using a midi n then notice if u get the low volume again..
and about that Game, well i have not tried it but I have tried several others and I must say the diff between 3660 n 3650 is apparent, most games either crash,do not play or do not produce sounds... games wud simply have to be modified to work on the 6.1 OS i guess......

well,
it cant be something related to a 3rd party app i installed coz that gprs sign thing was there from the moment i took the phone from the box.
same with the ringing tone volume, was there from the begining and when i turn vibration OFF...the volume of the ringtone goes down by like 45%(with any tone including poly`s,wav`s and amr`s).........such problem was reported by almost 90% of 3650 users before!....so i guess it`s not annoying when it`s common and when i rarely turn vibration off!.....can live with it:)
am surprised to hear from u that most apps/games dont run well with ur 3660 coz the only two games that had problems with were overdrive and resistance.sis..........i didnt try other apps like camcorder,mp3go....etc as am not sure they`re safe for the phone.
games that run normally (so far) include:
-X_III
-Splinter cell 1 ,2
-jungle commando
-damage san
-BMW racing
-dope wars
-interstellar flames
-ferrari experience
-Fifa 2003,2004
-dust n dirt
-prince of persia 1,2
and others...

hmm amongst ur list I only tried splinter cell and POP2
Splinter runs good but POP2 crashes anytime it wishes to.
I also tried Saga of Stone but there was no sound. ON my friends 6600 the same game produced sound effects.
Same problem with DOOM even after applying MMC patch, there is no sound.
And sum games simply refuse to run, u click on the icon the screen flashes momentarily n then nothin happens...
ANyway I can live with it, i'm not much of a gamin person.
Infact I believe the lesser apps i install the more stable n faster my fone shall perform.
