Worth 3650 upgrade to 6600 ? Wat U think?

Hi all. I have been temped to upgrade my 3650 to 6600, and need some opinions!

I like the look and functionality of 6600 and they are the major reasons why I want to upgrade. However, the cost is not cheap to upgrade to 6600.... and the way I see it, besides the 65k screen on 6600 and the look difference, 3650 is more or less the same phone.

I know all of you have different judgement perspectives on this issue, but I just want to hear what you all think if you were in this situation!

Go for it man, lol, 6600 has the next level of symbian OS aswell, lol. And you'd probably get better support for a higher storage MMC aswell...

in my opinion, 6600 has these factors that u wanna switch over to it-

1) it has a internal memory of 6MB, yeah u can save many things into your MMC... but some system files cant! so there is a limited capacity 3MB phones can use.... moreover the internal mem cannt be upgrade!

2) the 65k color is fantastic! think about this, it improve your camera, improve the movie/clips viewing experience, etc. would u wanna set your PC to 4000+ colours? next....

3) 6600 have themes for u to have fun with, imagine having to look at your phone so many times a day, to see jus the same outlook.... wouldnt it suck?

4) no more odd arrangement of keypads.... for those people who have mastered the arrangement of the keypads....well done, u could almost draw a circle in a hand n a square on the other...

5) pros n cons --- it has symbian 7.0 in the phone... if u r looking at the small pic, it sucks when many programs are actually meant for 6.0 n symbian is not backward compatible. however, there are newer programs comer out, meant for the newer platform 7.0... so prob in the near future, the newer software u cannot use...

6) physical wise, it is lighter n slightly smaller and thinner...

7) the working OS is more user-friendlier.

well all these are jus personal opinions of mine since i upgrade mine from 3650 to 6600. 3650 owners, pls do not get offended.

I bought my 6600 a month ago,
It has some functions that if I would switch to 3650 , I would throw it away.

First:

4096 colours ->> 65536 colours
One of the brightest screens ever that I've seen.

16 MB MMC card ->> 32 MB MMC card
Nice to have TWICE the extern memory. Plus some MMC cards are not compatible on 3650 which are compatible on 6600!

More Intern Memory!

More RAM
If you like N-Gage games,
U can play all N-gage games that are available,
Not all without bugs but think about Tony Hawk's pro Skater without bugs and many others!

Themes,
Something which the 6600 only has on the series 60!

Size:
Smaller Thinner, Lighter , has even more functions than other series 60!

get a siemens sx1, it has stereo output:)
radio tuner
you can play n-gage games with it as well
camera
and high ram memory like 6600
and i thought it had symbian 6.1 don't know this for sure, but if it has 6.1 all 3650 apps will work on it and not like 6600 that almost none app wil work

its not worth it the extras on the 6600 are just not worth the extra money

im reading alot o problems with the new s60 65k screen lots of dead pixels soon after buying and some screens completely fried alot of people on this formum complaining about is and face it more colour???? you want high resolution

ITS SOOOOOOOO BLOODY SLOW!!!! all these extras and same processor as 3650 the 6600 really struggles especially the manager installing apps and stuff its just annoying

the cam is the same pretty much seen large improvements in the default cam app but when using third party app not comparable identical photos produced

the video quality is rather pants on the 6600 compared to the video produced by philips camcoder on the 3650/7650

Wait for the 6620/6600i or whatever it will be! 6600 is going to be obselete soon anyways.

Don't go for the SX1 at all because the keys are in a verry odd way and they irritate more than a 3650. Also the SX1 only has 4mb of internal ram and the 6600 6mb wich is 50% more. The 6600 has symbian 7 versus 6 for the SX1 wich can be more compatible with apps now but it won't be later on.

Well I'm not sure wether what u guys consider is "worth the money" but for the looks alone i would've swapped a 3650 (if i had one) to a 6600 even if it cost twice as much. I got mine on ebay for $650 (including postage) about a month ago and it works great. I was laughing at the people who bought the 3650 when it was launched ( I had a 7210 back then which looked great!) coz it looked so WEIRD and BIG. The thing was gigantic! The 6600 is by far the best looking symbian phone around (specially once i get my metallic blue cover delivered) and i doubt the 6620 will be much better coz it lost the streamlines of the 6600. Its pretty much just bigger ram and stereo speakers. My ram now is easy to put up with and the WAV ringtones i hav makes ppls jaws DROP once they hear my fone ring. Hehe :lol:

65K color DOES NOT improve camera!!!
The SCREEN is limited to 4096 in 3650, not the optical camera!
It takes pictures in 24Bit colors!So wen u download em to ur PC , it's the same as the pics u get from the 6600

well, i like ngage, mp3 player, radio, stereo output, diag keys, its big, no cam yea, but its cheap. hehe. and i can get real stereo sounds as my ringtone.

6600 is a good fone, but not tt great, considering its a bit ex. but hey, its up to ur own preference if u wan it. well, as long as its a symbian, hehe.

Go for it, sipyip! It is a well worth upgrade, me used 3650 before but upgraded to 6600 last Oct., I'm very very satisfied up to this time.

Change your log duration from 30 days to 1 day. Go to menu -> log -> options -> settings. This will significantly speed-up your 6600, guaranteed!

I did have a N-Gage, but sold it b/c the screen was just too small for me to play games on... and personally can't stand the ergonomics when used as a phone.

First of all, I can get a deal and upgrade to 6600 for USD $245 (trade-in). So, for $245, seems like what I would get are below which I also have questoins for you all pros:

i) 65K screen - which I read a lot of ppl have 6600 complaining that screen with quite a few dead pixels... which is what I would HATE.

I have played with 6600 b4, and the 65k screen doesn't seem to be much different than the 4096 screen... even when a pic is taken... is it the same for you?

Does the pixels die slowly or is it dead when it was manufactured?

ii)Higher MMC storage... it's great to be able to use 256Mb cards, but don't think I will watch movies on it and enough apps to take up all that space. 128Mb is all I need and 3650 will do.

iii) 3Mbs more internal mem... very practical, I like!

iv) Sybian 7.0 ... so I can't use 3650 apps and games on it?

v) Appearence ... I really like... esp. the key layout... but personally don't like enough to justify $245 bucks for upgrade just for looks

vi) Themes... it's a good addition, but not a big deal to me

vii) Play N-Gage games! Wooo Hooo!

viii) The camera produce the same quality as the 3650's ... at least from the pics that I have seen taken on 6600 viewed on the computer.

The pictures should have the same amount of colours b/n 6600 & 3650 right?

Stereo output does make a big difference in my view, since I'd switched from 3650 to N-gage and hey this is the one

Still, if a built-in 0.3Mega-pixel is matter to you, Y dun u get urself a SX1:
- FM with stereo
- Symbian 6.1 means all appz & games compatible (most current apps dun work on 6600)
- All N-gage games perfectly compatible (well atleast it can be viewed since you need to master ur skill just to play those games with that keypad! 6600? most games just don't run well)
- USB data cable enables you to send big files such as MP3, Games with little time (what else wud you prefer more? Irda? Bluetooth? Nahh)
- 6600 is far too slow (used to compare with my old 3650)

If I were you, I'd wait for the 6620 which is coming out soon, It's looks exactly like the 6600 with some improvements, particularly stereo sound. I believe that the availability of stereo sound alone is worth the wait, Imagine you'll be able to enjoy mp3 music the way it was intented to be enjoyed, IN STEREO!

yea, not all 3650 games and app can b used.

pix from 6600 are better.

3 more mb of internal mem, tt rocks yea. and hey, 6600 has cool themes.

play ngage games? wif tt keypad? and no diag keys!

not onli 6600 can haf higher mmc capacity, 3650, ngage and 6600 is the same, up to 1 gig now. but not all brands work.

no stereo!
