My 8210 has developed a strange problem with sound - I cannot hear any sound during a call, and the key press tones are silent also.
Otherwise the phone works normally. The ring tones etc work fine, so the speaker is working OK. The problem may be related to the fact that my son has thrown the phone on the floor several times recently.
Any ideas if it can be fixed?
TIA

Ringtones use a seperate buzzer so try a new speaker.

Yep.
Other that that, as Wwanthoney said try a new speaker but also check the speaker contacts on the PCB.
It could also be something as simple as the screws have come loose.
Please post results
Best Regards

full phone front plates are only about £8 on ebay - this comes with a new screen, keypad and speaker... might be worth giving that a go.
£8 is nothing compared to how much the actual phone was when it came out... I paid £150 for it on a contract

Remove spkr-then check to see if there are any metallic filings on the spkr. They jam the voice coil if they get magnetised,so remove all of the filings. Then lift up terminals with a flat blade-this should do the trick.I f the spkr doesnt work ,replace it, but you will find that this does the trick as nokia speakers rarely fail in these little fones unless thety are liquid damaged. If none of these work, contact me and I will give a few other tips
regards Fix 8-)
