Yo guyz,
I need your help. My bf bought me a 256mb kingmax MMC for my 6600, I then did loads of research on the card and it seems that LOADS of ppl have had probs with em.

So far i've used up about 68Mb downloading loads of movie clips and wavs. Mobiclip and FExplorer installed on the card fine, but when I tried to install a cracked copy of pvplayer the installation didn't complete on the MMC having tried a number of times, but it did install on the phone ok. Also a couple of other .sis files didn't install. Are other ppl having this problem?

I just bought a sandisk 128mb MMC to replace this kingmax one in case I decide to return it. Any views/thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Dya think I should go with sandisk 128? Thanks all.

you should've saved your money on the 2nd mmc card and bought legal copies of the programs, then you won't be in the sh*t now would you...

ppl who had those problems on Kingmax probably formated them Fat32, common problem, but there is NO problem with Kingmax MMCs...

cheers ;)

 cheers for your input a_dude, but pvplayer cracked is the only way I can try out the app to see if its worth the purchase. Full screen caller has installed fine on the MMC.

Anyone else out there with the kingmax?...

I got one (256 kingmax) just last week, at the moment all ive got is one movie on it but that seems to be fine. My phone does seem to be crashing more than usual but im messing around with bluetooth alot though.

One thing is the mmc wouldnt work properly until i used the phone to format it.

Adl2: Most of the problems encountered with the Kingmax is due to ppl formatting using other devices. I formatted straight away using my 6600 and it still is working well.

I've heard that formatting using a different device can screw up the performance of these cards on the nokia 6600.

Well luckily for me ive got nothing else i can format it it in so im ok. When i got it i just put it straight in my phone expecting it too work, but it only worked properly when i used my phone to format it.

Everythings ok at the moment though :)

I also have a Kingmax 256 and much to my dismay, a lot of programs (like PVplayer) don't make it all the way through installation. When I tried to install photographer on my card, it had a system error and I couldn't access my MMC unless I restarted my phone...boo! :-x

For Kingmax 256 Users (I am one) ...

1. Format the Kingmax 256 on a different electronic device (eg PDA or Digital Camera)
2. Insert the card into your phone. DO NOT FORMAT IT ON YOUR PHONE!
3. Using SeleQ or FExplorer, create the system files manually (eg System, Apps, Sounds, Videos, Others, Images etc)
4. Continue using the Kingmax 256! The Kingmax MMC seems to have a problem with being formatted by Nokia phones ...

My Kingmax works perfectly on my sister's Canon Digital Camera. However, it seems to be working ok after I did the above steps and used it on my 6600/N-Gage. Try it, you might save a few bucks!

Thats strange... Anywayz I can only format the card using my phone as I don't have any other MMC compatible devices. I too (as stated in my 1st post) can't install pvplayer on to the MMC but i could install it on the phone.

I've used up 119Mb and yesterday tried to install a snowboarding game but the MMC kept saying 'can't write to disk', which I was dreading to be honest. It keeps freezing up now.

Think I might return it and use the Sandisk one I bought. Shame its only 128Mb's tho.

I got the same error message, but after formatting it on a dif electronic device ... it sorta worked and is more stable than usual

Would formatting it in a mmc card reader on a pc work?

AdL2: Try it mate, I don't have a memory card reader yet so i don't know. Just to let you all know I popped the Sandisk in and it works much better. Its really quick to navigate around files that are on the mmc and I havent had any probs installin anything on it. Going to return the Kingmax now unless the Sandisk starts playing up after 100mb worth of data has been installed, but so far so good.

I would but i havnt got one! I might buy one though if someone confirms it will make my card work better. There only about £10 on ebuyer.com

I tried that, and the MMC is still "corrupted" said my 6600.

I think Nokia 6600 has some issues with the Kingmax 256. The Kingmax 256 seems to go "alright" with the N-Gage I have.
