som1 please help! My N-Gage is goin' pistol!
When i boot i seem to get this "startup failed, contact retailer" thingy
after 5 reboots it finally asks for my pin number, I insert that and everything is ok but when I try to type a message it's all numbers and the pencil key is disabled! (so when I type hello it's something like: 43556) double tapping the # doesn't go to dictionary but just types ## and when I go to Menu>Tools>Settings>Device and then click General it gives the following error:
App. closed
gs
with a big red exclamation mark after it !
Should i go back to factory settings, is there another way or am I doomed to go back to the store?
thanks in advance!

Yeah, everything that u have put on the phone will be deleted unless u back it up on your PC via Bluetooth.

when you're doing the old *#7370# trick make sure tat you have a full battery and whatever you do dont interrupt the formatting proccess!
if you do the phone will be totally fucked! trust! i did it to a 7650!

Sh*t! I just read in the manual that, to reset the phone, you need to access the General menu but that menu is the one that f*cks up every time I try to start it
Is that what the *#7370# code does? Back to factory settings? Or a whole format?

I've uninstalled all apps from my N-Gage now and the startup seems to be restored to normal. The only thing still bugging me is the numbers and the General menu crashing when I start it. Any suggestions?

With mine neither. anyway, thx you guys, I'll first try to install wildskinz again and uninstall.. see what it does and if it doesn't do the trick, I'll format with the *#7370# code. Btw, thx for that code! :)
cheers

Yez! Wildskinz waz the bitchz! :D
Woohoo! Everything is back to normal!
neiltoe, You rock! Thank you alot for the hint.
So.. to any1 else that would experience the same problem as described in this thread just install wildskinz again, start the app, choose "Off" under "WildSkinz", Options, Exit and when the program asks for it to restart the phone. Then go to Tools, Manager highlight WildSkinz, press C and uninstall the crap-app :D
My thanks fly out to the wonderfull people that helped me get my phone back to sanity!
Thank you guys! I really appreciate what you are doing here on these forums, you're doing a grand job! Keep up the good support  I'll do what I can to help you all out.
Cheers, m8s!

PhoneSecure screwed up my phone as well. Tried to uninstall it, but that damn message still came up. Had to do a software format *#7370#. Oh dang! I forgot I didn't have enough battery power. Battery went dead. Replaced with a new one, and somehow ... it either went back into the Symbian OS ... or continued the format for me.
Whatever happenned, it was a close shave. I loaded the N-Gage games again and all the SIS/JAR files. Changed the settings, added calendar notes. Two weeks later, my N-Gage was stolen (the Army Cover was attached!) even though all my classmates laughed at my N-Gage
Oh well, at least ONE: I got the insurance money back, TWO: I learnt never to use PhoneSecure again and THREE: I got a 6600, which can do a Green * 3 format!
Woot! So, I hear WildSkinz ruins N-Gages ... better spread the word!
