hi, i have a 6600 and was wondering if it's possible to have the phone display chinese characters without using the q9 app. i'd rather not use the q9 app is because after i turn off the app, the phone turns all the chinese characters into boxes. thanks. if it's possible then how? :-?

q9 works fine with my 6600(english version)

are you sure that you d/l the rite version? becoz last time i downloaded
the wrong version...you need to choose the (english version q9 for your 6600)

Other than q9.... hm... guess there is no other way to read/write chinese(from my research)

You don't need to turn off Q9 as it will automatically start up with your phone. I left it on all the time, the only thing I don't like is that it turns all the titles (Menu/Messaging/Calendar, etc...) into a smaller font. It is hard to read the small screen already without it turns into smaller fonts as my eye sight is not improving.

Nokia will not do it for you if you are not in China, Hong Kong or Taiwan. I have checked with Nokia Singapore and they said it cannot be done (they just do not support Chinese there).

You need to look at your phone settings and see what languages it supports, if you are from Singapore, Malaysia, or Indonesia, you will need the English version. If your phone supports Simplified and Conventional Chinese, you can select either verion depends on which one you will be using.

agree! tzeonn, Nokia Singapore (or Accord) cannot support Chinese if their engineers are unable to read them. Singapore although being a mainstream Chinese community, not many people communicate in Chinese via SMS. I guess Chinese is not that easy to write using a keypad/keyboard.
