Yeah I saw tht about a min ago. It's a real cool phone! But it's missing a few things - FM radio, MP3 Player it has MP3 ringtones though which is real cool! Comes out 4th quater of this year.

For more info on this phone, just go to http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,6771,54108,00.html

Looks like a great phone.. Doesn't have seemed to missed a beat. Seeing that it has a pop port interface, FM should not be a problem, and shouldn't any MP3 Application written for the 6600 should work on it seeing that they share OS's?? It's not S60 phone though!

Well Business Travellers delight!! 80mb Onboard.. Wow!

There's no doubt that it will be an expensive phone. As much as it is a good phone, I will stick with the S60s.

Yeah, great phone, and it says its got Symbian 7 OS (is that the same as the nokia 6600), but it works on the Series 80 platform.. Can anyone provide an indept technical explanantion for that... and are applications which currently work on the Symbian 7 OS, be compatible..?

Great Great Great phone....

BUT !!!

No FM, weight 222g (heavy?), it will be better if it has a at least 2 Mega Pixel Camera but i don't think so. All others feature is good, WLAN....

BUT !!!

At the end of this year, others phone maker stop producing phone... i don't think so.

ok if trends continue as with past communicators expect a price value of about £600 with a 12month contract!!!!!

its a s80 so no no no to all those lovely applications we run on our 3650, 7650, n-gage etc beare in mind the s80 software scene is even more dead than the UIQ scene communicators are almost near perfectly up to date this one doesnt fail also probably the nicest communicator nokia have produced but its not on my wish list

Whoa! people, think about this one by the time this comes out,(prob will get delayed like all nokia phones do). There will be much better phones out, the sharp gx-30 could be a close match 4 this, and its coming out very soon. 2mpixel camera, series60, nearly unlimited video, mp3 player it looks amazing. But, in just 10 months phones can get so much better. It's like the p800 to p900 = 10 months can do wonders for phone improvements.

***drooling***

I always wanted an 9210, i almost bought one a while ago, but seeing this phone, man i checked the feats a second time to believe it, this is not a great phone, it's the best phone!
No matter what Siemens,SE or Sendo have in stall for us, this "phonetop" is mine!!!!

And for RiisE, they can easely plant in a better camera but that will also cost alot more, and the photo's size will drasticly increase a few 2Megapixel photos and yer 80mb is full!!!

I wanted to know how the quality of the picture can change if both 9500 and the 6600 have 640*480 resoluton. Will there be any difference if its viewed on a computer at a higher resolution ?

aussie
25-02-2004, 01:19 PM
If the camera's have the same resolution then the picture quality won't differ if viewed on a PC...? But in certain cases, the camera might be better in different phone models.. eg, 7650's camera was better than the 3650..

I READ THE SPECIFICATIONS, WOW GREAT PHONE! BUT IT WILL BE RELEASED ON 4TH QUARTER OF THIS YEAR, THAT MEAN, I WILL WAIT FOR AT LEAST TWO YEARS TO AFFORD THIS COMMUNICATOR (TO LESSEN THE PRICE AMOUNT) WHICH I THINK IS EXPENSIVE ONE. HUHUHUHUHUHU, EVEN TOUCHING THE PHONE IS ENOUGH FOR ME WHEN IT IS RELEASED. ANYWAY, IM FULLY SATISFIED WITH MY 9210i, SO. NO PROBLEM AT ALL, I GUESS!

----------------

I also compared the P900 and Nokia 9500 Communicator according to their specs and features.

The P900 is the top #1 and A-1 phone in the market upto day and the communicator is going to be the new one after it so here are the comparisions.

SonyEricssion P900
-115 x 57 x 24mm, 150g
-12MB internal memory, MS Duo slot (hotswap)
-65 536 colour TFT screen, 208 x 320 (208 x 208 with flip closed) pixels
-input device: touch screen and stylus
-connectivity: CSD, HSCSD (28,8 kbps + 14,4 kbps), GPRS (85,6 kbps + 21,4 kbps with CS-4 coding scheme)
-ringtones: MP3, AMR, MIDI (poly 16), WAV, RMF, AU, iMelody
-data transfer: IrDA, Bluetooth
-email: POP3, IMAP4, SMTP
-internet browsing: HTML 3.2 (excluding features such as frames and Javascript that are not revelant to a small screen device), WML 1.3, WBXML, xHTML Basic, xHTML Mobile Profile, cHTML
-extras: camera (VGA + video recording), games, MP3 player, themes

Nokia 9500 Communicator
-148 x 56 x 23.6mm, 220g
-80MB internal memory, MMC slot (hotswap)
-Two 65 536 colour TFT screens, 640 x 200 (PDA) and 128 x 128 (phone) pixels
-input device: grid keypad and qwerty keyboard
-connectivity: CSD, HSCSD, GPRS (53, 6 kbps), EDGE (236,8 kbps), WLAN (11 Mbit/s)
-ringtones: MP3, AMR, MIDI (poly 24), WAV, AAC
-data transfer: IrDA, Bluetooth, USB 2.0, Pop-port interface
-email: POP3, IMAP4. SMTP, SyncML, always-online, SSL/TLS, SMTP authentication
-internet browsing (Opera 6.x): HTML, XHTML, JavaScript™, file upload, WML 1.3 support, audio-video plug-in, DRM plug-in, OMA download plug-in, Flash Player plug-in, multiple windows (10)
-extras: camera (VGA + video recording), games, MP3 player, RealOne Player, XpressOn covers

As we can clearly see the Nokia 9500 Communicator beats the SonyEricssion P900 with its features and specifications.

Therefore I conclude this phone would be much better than the P900, incase if sony decide to release a newer model than the P900 because it is already one year old and the communicator will reach the market by the end of this year and would be common by the start of 2005.

I think the Nokia 6600 is high-tech enough for me!

Series 80?

And why does the 9500 have 80mb internal memory? Why not the previous phones as well? Doesn't really matter anymore, cause we've got MMC Cards now :-P

What about the mere 4mb memory in the s40 phones? Can't believe that I only had that much.

Well Nokia mentioned this:
Symbian 7.0S OS (series 80 platform)

And when I was browsing the 9500 site, I noticed that the phone's external screen is some what similar...

The size of the external screen is similar to the Nokia S60 phones...

I know this phone is under S80 platform but can there be a possibility that it can actually support applications that our S60 phones are having now?

If this is possible, than 9500 is totally an awesome phone... imagine what it can do... ;)

28-03-2004, 05:20 PM
well, im not so sure, but i dun tink it can use apps from series 60 fones. i noe wat u mean, u wanna see ngage games on 9500?

well, still early to sae, coming out onli at end of year!

OMENs
28-03-2004, 07:30 PM
actually the outer screen is more like a series 40, so ill guess the communicators will carry both series 80(MAIN) and a not complete series 40(EXTERNAL)

Just like the older 9210, 80(main), 40(EX)

What would be REALLY cool is:
External series 60
Main series 80
revolve the screen (like the tablet PCs) and have a series 90

That phone will become the best one EVA made
