How Do I Learn iR Remote

Yo, im using Psiloc's IR REmote thingy, now most of my tv's doesnt work, how do i learn it so that it work, my friend told me that he had a similar program for his ipaq and that u could point the remote directly to the IPaq's IR Port, and it captured the Discreet codes.....cant find any discreet codes for IR Remote.

i have that thing,it's "Tv remote controller" and it's a lot of fun:it uses also voice activation!anyway,total iremote uses a different system to learn:you must find the definitions file for a specific tv set,and send it to the phone.it is compatibile with lirc.....but i still don't know how to use it
