I know this is completely unrelated to symbian os, but i dont know whereelse I feel free to post this..please dont delete this or some one know where the right place to post such this plz tell me..the issue is I just installed windows xp proffesional with my friend retail cd, this thing keep popping up asking me for "activation for windows" (30 days left) what does this mean ? is there anyway to stop this ? This is my first time usin win Xp..so plz help me..thanks

yeah and if u would just READ what it ses when u click on it u would have know already! it means u have to activate your windows xp within 30 days orelse u wont be able to use it anymore, so click it and follow the easy steps which are ment for newbies. the reason microsoft made this is to prevent ppl for copying their product

just click activate online and sorted shouldnt be any problem my mates disc has been activated on about 20dif pcs and still works!!!

Dude, this is a forum for Nokia Phones and Symbian OS's, not your Piracy issues regarding WINXP.. If you're not smart enough to be able to crack your way through the Windows XP activation you shouldn't be pirating software...
Send me your email address, and i'll send you a crack for disabling the Activation so you'll have no more probs...

Not diificult to use M$ Windows for nothing

For 95/98/SE/ME/NT/2000 that was easy, just search after some keys on the internet and the OS works
But with XP/2003 things are different, you need to have a VALID key AND you must register it

You can see if you have a cracked version by clicking on "System" in the configuration screen like this:

Registred to:

XXXX XXXXXXXXXX

xxxxx-640-xxxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxx => cracked
xxxxx-642-xxxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxx => legal version

With the cracked version you can't install Service Pack 1
With the legal version you can do everything just as you'd bought in in a store

Most likely (like me) you will have the main cracked key installed

(yes, the KHHQ7 key) and this key will gibe you a 640 serial (can't update)

So, wel will need to change this key to a valid one...

But this I can't tell you here

Well, updates are dependant on the serial. If its blacklisted, no updates for you. Only home needs activating. Pro and corporate will let you use them for as long as you like.

Guys you're talking about using an product activation key right..? That MS has probably already reported and thats why your SP's don't work.. I've got an App which cracks the system and will disable the Activation Feature totally, lol, thats the best way to do it. lol. I've done it this way and installed SP1, no probs..

Dude there are a couple of ways you can do to stop the popping... activate it. go to all programs >accessories > System tools > activate windows... if the software is licensed, and your friend has already activated his copy, try activating it by phone.. call microsoft but be sure to give the Authenticity code. every original copy has one.. (sticker with the software) tell them that after reformatting your drive, you cannot activate the copy anymore.. ( that's what I did! :D ) if all goes well, say goodbye to the damn activate pop up! :D
