Probably 6310i. There isn't much point for a Symbian, if you wanted a computer you'd take a laptop. You just want one for communication, not for a toy.

beg to differ but the ngage/6600 has became what i call the current 'penultimate all-in-one-device' (6600 is close but no good loudspeaker no radio no stereo) damnit the ngage has no infrared!!arghh only thing that wouldve made the ngage a classic...use it as a remote control.......but seriously 6600 and Ngage r both neck-to-neck. I bet the Ngage 2 will be all the features of the 6600 and the ngage combined....now that will be the ultimate machine
i ve dreamed of one day man will built a device that encompases all the little bits we carry around....a watch...a pen....a remote control...a book reader...a diary, paper......anything that you need will be done on this device...
to answer your question whether my ngageor a 6600 is a toy?
i have an answering machine, a dictaphone, An organiser, A File Storer (stores jpgs, mps etc), games that kick ass over any other phone on the market and it even emulates all the arcade coin-op games (mame) it emulates gameboy, heck i even got GPRS with a full blown browser (netfront Browser). I can send and recive faxes using MobileFax. Im even watching the Soccer on Live Streamed TV right now and honestly its only limited by our or symbian developers imagination...
oh not to mention its a movie player too....and a damn good one for the screen size using smartmovie...all from a phone!
Oh and not to mention I have the entire book 1984 by George Orwell and the Prophecies of Nostradamus which I can read and search using ReadM software....aka a book reader
think of things u can do on a yatch...and a laptop is way too bulky...but with bluetooth and a 6600...it might even be better...heck with an ngage u can cruise the net thru the laptop if ur laptop can connect to the internet from the yatch..saves on GPRS charges...or ur dad is up on the deck and sends ur mum a free bluetooth message saying to come up if she cant hear him...after all bluetooth has a range of 10meters around the boat...
i could go on, now tell me is that a toy?
cheers ;)
oh and forgot to mention....i also got Agile Messenger ...gives me ICQ, Yahoo, AOL, MSN and Jabber contacts all in one program for instant messageing over GPRS or bluetooth...now did you say they want to cruise the net? well with a symbian they can cruise it properly and even do their online banking!
oh and ive seen too many jaws drop showing them my 'toy'...no one calls ma ngage a toy...

I like the sound of this Ultimate Machine, but some people (including me) already bought an N-Gage. Nokia better have some encouraging scheme, like "trade your N-Gage and $50 for the N-Gage 2" or something.
Otherwise ...

Now, lets go to the basics, what is a phone for? To talk to people.
If you want ICQ/MSN/AOL/Yahoo, get a laptop, or a PDA. I'm sure his parents will love the 'gaming features' which is more or less what a 'toy' is. Now lets see your 6600 do anything near what a laptop can do, with its less than a gigabyte memory. That can't even store 1/4 of my MP3s. The movie players on the mobile phones are nothing compared to DVD rips, *pffft* 'quality' you say.
If your dad is on deck and your mother is below deck, I think that they have what is known as voiceboxes, I don't know about you, but my voice can radiate further than a distance of 10 metres. A symbian can't cruise the net properly you mediocre fool.
Lets see your 6600 hold as many 'texts' as a laptop can. Does your 6600 have the Talmud? Or perhaps the 'Bible'. Limited by the imagination, eh? I think it is just limited by the 6600s power? I think that plenty of people have 'imagined' perhaps a Playstation emulator. Is that ever going to happen on your 6600? No. No it is not.
Lets see you type messages at an amazing rate on your 6600. Haha.
Plus, being over the water and all, a 6600 isn't exactly a logical thing to carry around is it?
What do you call an N-Gage then? Its a mobile phone designed to 'play games' on. Owning one myself, I can say that it is indeed a toy.
In fact PDA's with the similar dimensions have more processing power and can also act as a telecommunications device. Overall, having an expensive mobile phone is simply an ego status.
Get a 6310i, better than a slap in the face with a buttered ham sandwich.

Err ... gophermaster, are you saying that the 6600 is bad? And the N-Gage is good?
I'm confused :-?

07-03-2004, 04:33 AM
No. I'm not really trying to degrade either phone. I'm sure the 6600 is a swell phone.
I'm just trying to point out the fact that if you want a computer then get a computer. Not a phone that can 'sort of' do similar activities that a computer does.

Good point gophermaster.
I hate those people who say:
"Oh, look its an N-Gage. Why would you buy that, when you can get the GBA!"
"Ha, what crappy sound quality in the MP3. Why didn't you buy the iPod?"
"Phone? Get a proper phone, rather than that fat beast"
I hate those stupid remarks. The N_Gage is one of its own. A special phone. Not an mp3 player, not a gaming machine, not a phone. Its a four-in-one phone (with radio btw!).
Stupid people. Very narrow-minded indeed

Perhaps you are correct about the 6600, but they want a cheap phone. The 6310i is cheaper than the 6600 isn't it?

Thnx u all, im going for the 6310i , cheapest and most durable phone.
And for Nk_AuL: If people are jealous and insult ur phone just ask them if they have a 512MMC, 14mb Ram, all the great games, all those programs, goboy, frodo, emame, mp3 & video!
And if they say get a gba tell them the Gba has about 2 mb ram (or even less ,kinda forgot) and further nothing.
If they complain about MP3 tell em to play an MP3 on their phone, shuts their stinkholes immideatly. And does that iPod plays Tony Hawk?
And it aint a phone it's a Gameing device with wich u can call with.
Believe me, when i just bought a 7650 millenias ago i also had remarks like, "uuw ,what a brick, that phone looks like my daily visit to the toilet, u even PAID for that monsterous thing?" and so on.
I just started up Geopod or Doom and showed it to them, next thing they wanted to play!

Just a question why are u so anti 6600? I mean n-gage-6600 are nearly the same when it comes to power (diff 2 mb ram) and still u only say 6600.
No offense but, are u a bit jealous on the fact that we 6600's can play n-gage games?
Just a question! I don't want to bust your balls on this.

I call them both a toy. I mainly only mentioned the 6600 because that is what I was arguing about, most people know that the N-Gage is a toy.
Anyway, why would I be jealous about the 6600 playing N-Gage games? I don't have a 6600 so it is none of my concern. If anything, I would be happy for the 6600s.

i think the n-gage / 6600 are good phones (and for the one that says get an... gba or i pod or whatever)
what would you like to have in youre pockets
A:an gba an ipod and a phone a camera and a portabel radio o and ofcourse a pda for your movies
or...
B:an Nokia 6600 OR n-gage (that discludes the camera)
it saves a lot of space
(and sorry for my bad english)
