First of all. I must warn you. To understand this program you should allready have expirences in HEX numbers and a little bit knowlendge about the menustructure.

With this tool it is possible move menuentry's delete menuentry's or even create you very own menu. :D Only problem, there don't exist any describtion how to use this program. ;) Maybe one of you could write a tutorial for this program. :D

This program is very powerful but very difficulty too. :( If you have ideas for a very easy to use GUI then just let me now. ;)

Liam has updated the attachment in this thread to be the latest version with 3390 support

Things I have tested:
- deleting menus
- moving menusorder
- creating new menus like shortcut menu for the most important functions
- edit existing menuentrys to swap menuimages and text.

I will try to write a tutorial/describtion for this program in the next days.

very nice tool i love it :D the program crashed and did not give me 5510 menus :D

now i feel like crash test dummy :)

i guess npm-5 is too much for g3n0lite.

err... I just can't get that prog to give me any output when I want to modify a 5510 mcu+ppm flash :( is this because there is no entry for 5510 in the .ini-file?? anyway, what do these entries say? and does some1 have the offset (just guessing that those are offsets) for the 5510?

thanks

This Program likes WinXP. It was developed under XP.

When the Go Button is disabled i would be pleased if you tell what error or output my program gave you. because i couldn't see what you see.

If anyone has a problem please tell me what the output of my program is and what you try.

If there is no entry in the textbox Rootentry after loading the fls then there is no entry in the ini file for your flashfile. Then you must find out the rootoffset yourself or send me the flashfile.
[email protected]

Flashfiles needed are normal FLS file with MCU and PPM.

And please stop this stupid posting like "It crashed" or "It doesn't work". Please write more informations if you want support.

I have just tested 5510. Works fine. :D

I have added g3n0lite again with a little update in the INI File. Rootoffset for 5510 v3.53 added.

ok, i have try with 8250 v5.04, 8210 v5.31 original flash from nokia (no modify at add) at winxp, but the go button are still not avalaible.

i get this in the windows box.

# Welcome to g3n0lite from g3gg0 converted by Joox

# Opening the Flashimage for PPM read
# Found PPM:
# Checking g3n0lite.ini for Rootoffset

but when i use it in win98/me, there is no problem at all. but only when i open 8210 flash file, the dropdown selection box show 8250, and when open 8210 it show 8250.

can you please tell me what is those hex infont of each many for? how to i change this, and can i add my own menu(ex. add a shortcut menu) in the flash file?

thanks you.

Hi,

First of all much thanks for sharing this tool here Mr. Joox & Mr. g3gg0.
Quite inventive and unique in it's kind.

With this tool U can do a lot on the menu structure.

U should know some about the bytes to do it correct.

Without that U still can play around a bit, be sure to use a copy, not the original backup.

Each line represent some menu option somewhere in the structure.

The text that is behind it is not there for editing but to make clear what line it is.

The numbers in the lines represent many things, like corresponding logonr or displayed text nr. and more settings required for the functions that use this tables.

U can simply copy a line into the clipboard, remove the line and paste it again in some other area.
That way U can rearrange Ur own menu.

Do note:
If U add or remove lines, U should adjust the nr count that is in the upmost line.

hmm.. i think that offset for 5510 is wrong.
for me, it shows different things, all of them are not in menu, and i can't see there "Luettelo, Viestit, Puhelutiedot, Asetukset".... using finnish language.
does this work only for english or maybe it's not for v03.53?

I have fixed the bug which caused the crash during the menugeneration which not enough space n MCU. If there is no space in MCU you could write the menu in PPM now. Without crash :D.

If you find other Bugs please report them in detail. And do not post stupid things like "it crashed" without any describtion.

Tutorial will follow soon.

hi
this program seems gr8!
is that simple as copy one line, remove it and past the line (aligned of course)in other place?
i'm not flashing a test of mine cause i use dialup net connection, otherwise i've started to ruin some more phones...
the only thing is that: and new menus/functions? is it possible with this?
probably, it'll be only usefull for menu remove/move/re-order, am i wrong?
i'm honest, when those adresses appear, i don't see nothing more than numbers, but logical numbers! when i change one of those lines, don't i have to calculate the numbers on those lines? or them represent the command to the program function?
to avoid these questions, please rush on the manual for this little progie.........

Do note:
If U add or remove lines, U should adjust the nr count that is in the upmost line.

@joox,

I found that 0.91d version have problem when changing menu, in english the changed menu is working properly, but when i switch to chinese language, all the menu are not working at all...and when select any menu, the phone restart, so i use the old version 0.91e, and no problem at all....

In first, I want to congragulate U about your soft... I'm think, it's really hard to do it....

But your prog don't work with 3310 v5.57 file... :-\ and same with PPMEdit 1.0g demo (sorry TNP)... :(

when I open a v5.57 file, look what your prog say:

Seems that the PPM or the Pointer in the menu structure of your flashfile are damaged. I think an else prog hasd messed up the flashfile.

A Pointer is an address/function that points to another function/address.

Joox one question for ya!Can you add menus also from other files or the only thing you cn do is make shortcuts?Caus if it'as onl6ythe 2nd then i don't thing your prog offers much.(With all the respect)

@therock:
so, if u cant "move" functions from one phone to another, the prog is "worthless" ?

did i interpret this right??

so, dear, then its ur turn to do this better and make a BETTER program!
be happy about that what all the coders give you!
and what they give u FOR FREE, without the need to switch
on your brain if u want to modify something.
and dont talk such crap..

(sorry if i misunderstood you... )

Well i think i gave you a wrong impression.I didn't say somethnig like:"Hey why did you bother wasting time time to make such a useless programm" or "Hey your prog sucks!".

Actually i'm not even capable of designing a calculator. All i just said is that making shortcuts isn't something i'm looking forward to do!But to be honest it was some hell of a try ok?

i've managed tp make a menu which includes games as a sub menu.
is there anyway to remove the animated picture, on this new menu. while still showing it on the original spot.

thanks

@thydzik: Just change the AnimationID and the BitmapID to some number that doesn't exist. and the image is gone.

how would u go about creating a new menu, that has an idividual menu name.

ie, i've made a new menu by copying the "messages" sub menu, but i want to be able to change the menu name of "messages" with out effecting the actual messages menu name aswell.

thanks

@g3gg0
sorry, i tried to use modified flash.. maybe that's why it didn't work?
because original flash works good.

now i wonder what will happen if i change menu order and put that 8 arrows to my flash, and then edit with ppmedit?
ppmedit won't show arrows, and not sure if whole flash will be nonworking after modifications with ppmedit..

reason for me to modify menu's is that i like sms as first menu, and chat under sms (this part i've done with g3n0lite without any help, took me some time to get it working without errors :)

but how can i change that light menu to work in my 5510?
(not yet searched threads for that, sorry)

liteFun
21-10-2002, 03:00 PM
umm.. can't see netmonitor menu after changing menu order, but sim-card menu..

and tried that 8 arrows thing, i thought it was for network/battery bars, but they are normal except network bars are not displayed :(

is this only 5510 bug?

ist one of two things:
1. when you add a root menu, you must also change the root menu count, otherwise the last entry will be truncated.
2. chances are, you didn't enable the net monitor menu on your phone. maybe after a UI setting and you just forgot about it.

1 interesting thing, assuming that netmonitor is menu 13 on your menu tree, and let's say that you add another root menu, so that would mean that simtoolkit would now be 13 (unless you place a different menu on ths location) and netmonitor would be 14.
if net monitor menu is not enabled by default (via logomanager), simtoolkit would not appear instead. it seems that the netmonitor enabling disabling function is relative to menu position rather than the function itself.

Joox
03-11-2002, 12:09 PM
yes you are right, menus are disabled by number. if you change the ram pointer of the root offset (in last braces) to 00000000 then all menus are enabled. just a tip ;)

aZyWeRks

hmnn... very interesting indeed.

btw, g3n0lite has a problem with netbars and slideshow on a 5210. can't seem to successfully inject code.

on a 3330, i get problems after doing so. i end up with a corrupt eeprom. something in the mcu code must have triggered it.

Hi all.
I read everything about g3n0lite and I still don't konow how to make menu without standart text. I want to make menu with mu own text ex. Lucky.

Anyone can explain it to me:

# This is a comment in the dump
+ADD_TEXT my own menu name
# you may put the +ADD_TEXT anywhere in the file
[0xDEADBEEF] [0x00000000] [0x00000000] (...)
# this menu entry above will get the text 'my own menu name'

Waht's +ADD_TEXT and how to use it?
How can I PUSH something to the stack?
I konow that 0xDEADBEEF POP from the stack.....

Sorry for my english :)

And, how about 8210 and 8250? I get confuse, coz before I change any thing at 8210, the menus still same as default, but since I inject the "Code" chunk by g3nolite 1.7, the menus is changed.

it seems that genolite has problems with 8210.
contact g3gg0. perhaps he can help you out

The new menu for he Slideshow:
+ADD_TEXT Slidesh0w

After that you have to correct the menucounter (0x0C) -> (0x0D)

Do you mean that there's no title for the menu?
can't be!

The first value in the round bracket is the BITMAP_ID and the last bracket is the ANIMATION_ID. Just compare the two values with the other ones in your menu struct. then you know, how to put a picture to your menu.

@Harry Zhily
I had the same idea some months ago.
But hadn't enough time to realize this.

Thanks man finaly got it, Menu title & Menu Icon for the Slideshow. But I have 1 more question. You said that
"the round bracket is the BITMAP_ID
and the last bracket is the ANIMATION_ID"
I use the BITMAP_ID & ANIMATION_ID base from FLAShEditv0.3 by Joox. Use the Clock Icon w/ BITMAP_ID of 0AE & ANIMATION_ID of 01A, When I flash it to my phone the Game Icon appears not the Clock Icon.

Hope you can give me more infos about this.

@Yummieee thx for the language hint, looked over the box;)

also, is this a problem: ??

[0x00416548] [0x00000000] [0x00000078] (0x014F) (0x05E0) (0x0000) (0x0040) (0x0400) (0x0019) Services
[0x0011C120] [0x00000000] [0x00000036] (0x00A1) (0x05E0) (0x0000) (0x0040) (0x0000) (0x0018) INVALID ADDRESS

[0x004153D8] [0x00000000] [0x00000030] (0x00B8) (0x05E0) (0x0000) (0x0040) (0x0400) (0x001D) Net monitor

using mcu+ppm from sno.at and tried some others, always seem to get INVALID ADDRESS, this is from a 3350 fls file, but get it with 3310/3330 also
Or should this just be ignored?:)

btw, for the freaks that mod the mcu code... like the netbar, how do you compile the code or...
or do you sometimes rip code from other models firmwares, and if, how the heck do you find the offsets for the function u want, wondering:)

> INVALID ADDRESS
the sim card menu reads the text from the sim card itself and
thus its invalid since we only have the flash

i analyse the software and use some functions for my work...
show a graphic etc...
i use locators to find the correct function... they look like this
it takes hours to do something new...

locator loc_dis_irq =
{
"disable_irq",
"\x48\xcd\x78\x01\x29\x00\xd1\x04\x49\xca\x7b\x0a\x70\x82\x22\x0a",
"\xff\x00\xff\xff\xff\xff\xff\xf0\xff\x00\xff\xff\xff\xff\xff\xff",
16,
1
};

so U kinda look for *code strings*, must be a though job indeed ... analyzing the whole damn code:) seems quite some things aren't even clear to winarm etc:)

do u know 'RTFM' ?
so read the 'readme 1st' in g3n0lite before asking anything!!!!
and always use the latest version (v1.7)

Yummieee

@markaidestine
please read the other threads 'bout editing the menus and using g3n0lite!
Just use your brain and you'll know how to do!

@g3gg0
What does 'RTFM' mean? "Read this First - Mom" :D ???

RTFM = Read The F***ing Manual
its all mentioned in my readme 1st

Can we add text in the menu name that reads from a string id in the lang pack?

g3gg0

use just the ID in the first field....

e.g. [0000010D] .....

Now..adding menu's it getting clear to me, now I wonder how to make them *functional*.

so, is there any more info about the functionID, It doesn't really seem to be an offset? are those ID's some where listed in a (vector) table or something alike, where we can read that specific functions location?

just a thought..Coz I'm wondering wether there is an *easy* way to locate some of the code, at least for the functions present in the menu.
(that way I could try to rip some functions from other flashes:))

Anyway, while writing this, I started playing with the slideshow thingie on some flash file, trying to get how the code is injected
Now most is clear except the critical part I guess:

----------------------------------
doing the slideshow stuff...
----------------------------------
- bl: 00046272 -> 000AB4FC: F0 65 F9 43 (call to own_draw_text at 0x000AB4FC)
- func_end: 00046B0C ??
- b: 00046276 -> 00046B0A: E0 48 (call to something right above func_end?:))

also..what other call (at 00046272 in this case)we sacrificed?
how is own_draw_text at 0x000AB4FC linked to the (0x0B64) functionID from the menu?

Hope I made myself a bit clear with my crappy explanation:)

g3gg0

its not as easy to understand as u think...
the functionID is sent to a complex messaging system
that sends the message to different tasks and they do
something with the message

if u want to play with this, start at http://www.geocities.com/nok5rev/

w0rf

@g3ggo: well, just started playing with it, wrestling thru an arm instruction set file also...not easy indeed, dos asm seems easier to play with imho:)

reading up on the message system, still enough parts that like chinees;)

Guess I want to gather too much info at once:)

and if someone has some usefull ifo files for use with winasm...:)

i knew that.
what i mean is if we can create an id or modify someone that is not in use.

@user32
creating one? read this thread carefully and you'll know.
or read my small tutor HERE (http://nokiafree.org/forums/t11076/s.html)

Modifying an unused ID??? Tell me ONE unused ID! Every ID is in use [???]

User32

of course there are! for example, the last id's in a 3310/15&30 are explanations that appear only on other models, like 8210.

i doubt too about creating id's... just wondering...

g3gg0
30-12-2002, 11:20 PM
must be possible... but i have chosen the 04FF method since
it is easier...

just export to text file, edit and re-import in ppm manager
then use id [0x00000xxx] in g3n0lite

should work.. at least in my mind ;)

User32
30-12-2002, 11:31 PM
that's what i had in mind.

what is 04FF method?

Yummieee
30-12-2002, 11:34 PM
@g3gg0
that works! i've used this method till your tool came out!

wie lange dauert es noch bis genolite 2 rauskommt??? *#scherz*
(brauchst net drauf antworten - musste einfach mal sein)

@user32
with the 04FF-Method you can create new "IDs" (not displayed in textchunk)

g3gg0
30-12-2002, 11:34 PM
the same like a 04 ID ID, but it doesnt refer to a PPM TEXT ID..
it has the text behind the 04 FF in unicode
e.g.

04 FF 00 XX 00 XX 00 XX 00 XX 00 00

the XX are the text-bytes

I kept on playing with genolite(1.7)

and it gives a pretty wierd output for a 3330 imho
It might be the fls, but I tried to convert the wintesla ones from the nmh6 support pack too
and didn't find other 3330 fls to test with.
(tested with lang pack B)

This doesn't look like the menu on my phone:)
(its only the first half, only 10000 chars allowed..if u want full I'll add the rest in new msg:))
# using 'ENGL' lang chunk

@ g3gg0

how do you calculate the ROOT offset?
By searching after a code fragment or by using the MCU header?
And btw do you have any documentation on the MCU header?

Its because im trying to make a menu preview application that can view directly from a .txt file while a fls file is loaded or viewing the menu structure from the .fls file it self

I've done nearly everything to my 5210.inbox with sec. code, fade but..g3n0lite has problems with menustructure especially after version 5.20.Only g3n0lite 0.91f can read the menu items exactly, but however,I cannot add items.Tried again and again...
g3n0lite v1 and upper versions cannot read menustructure, instead,it reads weird text as menu names
Is there a simple way we missed?what are we doing wrong?
Please somebody help with 5210...

Do we know your Phone?
Do we know your Version?

NO!

No one can tell you the MessageID without your Model and Version.

But I don't think so, that g3gg0 could tell you the ID.

Try out every ID and you'll know, what will happen using a certain one. I've allready done a table with the IDs of my phone. That makes the work easier...

well, trying to find the pointer doesn't help indeed.
using the found hexa string to make a menu string from it does nothing on my phone:(

and there doesn't seem to be a null menu in front, so maybe the pointer value isn't used in a menu like mostly

-And can anyone teach me how to put password in the archive folder only? I've tried to use g3gg0lite

-Can anyone teach me how to change menu names? With PPMedit v1.0a it only shows a lot of symbols. I

PS: I readed somewhere that when upgrading 6210 to 6250 would cause a loss of phone memory and sms

thanks Crux2002, but if i had heavily modded the fls file and don't want to start all over again but just want to remove the patches(i.e. netbar strength) ALONE. using an unmodified fls would be gr8, but it would require me a lot of time/work on injecting my other modifications(like menuBitmaps, menuStructure, tones, etc.etc..)

hope you understand what i'm talkin 'bout...

hi, actually what i wanted is to convert my 8210 (rom6) into 8855. i got the flash ic as demanded. but 1 prob i had is to remove the sealed cpu and bridge wire and then replace it. but in posts to 8210 to 8855 they also mentioned that it can be done without removing the cpu also. but it goes like this

"NOTICE: If your cpu is V16, you needn't remove it: from CPU No.1 point. (It's one the cpu's left, the sinus point), Now winddershins.. No.17 is G2, you can bridge it to A3. "

now thats what the prob is. i am not able to understand the last 2 lines. that is
#1. sinus point ???
#2. winddershins????

does it means that i have to get the 17th pin on the upper portion of the cpu,, but if it is so, then 17th from which point??

LogoMan:(

just 4 ur info:(hope i'm not wrong:D )

menu items(text) created by g3n0lite is not accesible with PPMManager(m i right?), you have to manually search it from Hex editing software and look for the hex strings equivalent to " WINXP 3315i", it has "0X0h" after every character, that is "WIN" = "5700730078"

57 = hex value of character "W"
73 = hex value of char. "I"
78 = hex val of char. "N"

search those strings on hexeditor and change it with your desired text BUT ALSO insert "00" after every char and overwrite only with the same length of characters with the original text - your text " WINXP 3315i" has a length of 11 including the space between "P" and "3".

hope u understand this...

Hi.
I made our "Khal" language support for Nokia 3310,becuase it was not supported. I used russian language becuase our language is use same characters. I finished menu translation, now it really looks in our native language but I have 2 problemm.
1. There have few very important characters not included in russian cyrilic font (characters).Only have in our language. So how I write them in sms editors while I writing in russian cyrilic font system? How to add them to keyboard layout? Maybe it can be done mcu patching?
2.Also next way is menu should be in our Khal language but sms can be writing in english character system, becuase menu handphone don't have Russian and Khal language supports, only support for english. It better use english characters for sms. But I can't do it,becuase I already started my project in russian language pack, but move to english just display some broken characters in menu. If I insert cyrilic character in english language menu it just show broken symbol.
Thanks for attention.
All suggestion and idea are welcome.
Bye.

just put in 0x01BC an you have you Icon back...

To change The menu name, just...

write over the Menustring" +ADD_TEXT Clock & Extras "
and write DEADBEEF into the first brackets...

thx!

the thing is...

i tried this: +ADD_TEXT sometext

[0xDEADBEEF] [0x00000000] [0x004CF460] (0x01D4) (0x0387) (0x0000) (0x0046) (0x1000) (0x001A) sometext

an' it succeded to add this (at least no error message was shown), however when reading the file back, other texts were replaced by "id:number"... although the newly added text was shown as is, not as id:number:)

i tried the other mod (that's what i thought to do by myself also, i mean to modify the bitmap id) but got the same error (id: number everywhere)

thx 4 your help anyway!

the "id:number" means that it reads the menu name from the text chunk in ppm. when you add a menu with your own name, it doesn't change the chunk, but it adds it as a fixed name, whatever language you have.
now, if you want to change the bitmap, you should only change the bold letters (in Obnoxy's post). for the name, find the word "Calculator" in the text chunk and change it.

i hope i helped a lot ;)

one important remark:

if u use this:

+ADD_TEXT sumtext
(0xDEADBEEF)(.....) sumtext

then be careful: place only ONE space character before the sumtext in the second line!!! otherwise genolite fucks it up!!!

User32

you don't need to type the menu name again. only after +add_text is required.

another (silly) question:

if there was a menu in an earlier version of 3410 for selecting SMS sending format (unicode, gsm-alphabet or automatic), in v4.09 and it has been removed in the next version (4.26), but the text for the menu is still in the software..... then is there a way to put it back?

i mean how could i figure the code that belongs to character-support: auto or character-support: gsm-alphabet or character-support: unicode??? and put it to 4.26?

@g3ggo: I just want to ask if g3nolite v2.0 can increase the 3310's support for SIM with more than 45 messages. My SIM supports 60 messages, but my 3310 can access only 45. Can v2.0 make my 3310 support the 60 message capacity?

don't suggest him more ideas yet! he'll delay more in releasing v2.0! first let 2.0 out and then tell the idea for v2.1...

why not release a ver 2.0 before 8210 mod?
ver 2.1 could be released after thet.

just an idea

sorry g3gg0, i know you donīt want us to ask for release, but we are all waiting for it.
